Thought for today: our new neighbour has a gorgeous fat house cat that watches out the window at street life that I desperately want to steal for cuddles.

Our team are sad to wave goodbye to the magnificent Matthew Bellhouse Moran as he moves on from HMS Unicorn but delighted that former trustee Dr. Andrew Tibbs is appointed Interim Chief Executive.

What good is the sparkle of Strictly if young people in Britain aren’t getting the chance to dance? | Shirley Ballas
I’ve seen how dance can transform lives. I urge the government to put it back where it belongs – at the heart of the curriculum * Shirley Ballas is president of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing The government has promised to put…

I’ve been neglecting BlueSky. Sorry folks. Turns out returning to work after 4 weeks off is a bit of a shock to the system. Who’d have thunk it?

My husband has just informed me it’s the 5th January.

He then doubted me when I told him it was the 3rd.

Had to show him the date on my phone to convince him 🤣

Anyway, glad to report that the hollandaise sauce best before date breakfast disaster has been deftly averted.

I’ve just cleared out the man drawer in the kitchen.

I do it once a year and still remain astonished by all the silly bits and bobs we keep, just in case. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I have, of course, thrown out the empty bubbles jar, but kept the horn whistle, just in case.

We may need to be brutally honest with ourselves.

There’s really only 3.5 working days left this year:

1) we’re all taking Mon/Tues off (don’t lie, now)
2) we’ve all got Christmas drinkies planned for Friday afternoon.

Am I right?

Today I’m on strike. For journalism without fear or favour; for the future of the Guardian; and most of all for our beloved newspaper The Observer, 233 years old today, being put at existential by its billionaire owner. Happy birthday to The Observer 🎂❤️.

Today I lost 25 minutes of my life that I won’t get back being read endless words of script while trying to renew my phone contract because the integration of their business portal with salesforce doesn’t work properly. 🥴

Fox watched the snowfall, utterly captivated.
She could watch forever, her mind drifting along with the snowflakes as they floated and fell with each whisper of wind.
Well, maybe not for too long actually. She was getting pretty chilly and quite fancied curling up somewhere warm.

Gosh, where did the last four days go? Well, Thistle Awards (we didn’t win, but I got dressed up - evidence below), website pushed live on Friday, snow day Saturday, read a whole book on Sunday, wrote a report yesterday, built a website today. Hello to all my new followers 👋

There’s something joyfully ironic about someone anonymously being called “The Taxpayer” when the premise of the case is tax avoidance.
The mystery tax avoider's name will be revealed in three weeks. A quick thread, and update on our story from May.
