TWP asks you to add your voice to justice, wherever and whenvever you can. It can be uncomfortable at times. That's why we do it in community.
After Marcelo Gomes da Silva was arrested by ICE on his way to volleyball practice in Milford, he made a promise to the men he shared a cell with: He’d be a voice for immigrants unfairly detained.

He's one of Boston Globe Magazine’s Bostonians of the Year.

1. In a stunning new bill proposed by several New Hampshire republicans, transgender women could be charged with trespass for using the bathroom.

The bill is the first to apply to PRIVATE businesses.

It also ONLY applies to transgender women, not trans men.

For those who don't follow the fine print, @marcelias.bsky.social and his team have successfully fight for democracy in court. That they are now invovled in the RI suit is a dig deal.
NEW: On behalf of SEIU District 1199NE, Rhode Island Alliance for Retired Americans and two voters, my law firm has filed to intervene to fight DOJ’s lawsuit seeking Rhode Island’s complete, unredacted voter registration list. www.democracydocket.com/cases/rhode-...

1. For weeks, EITM has reported that Republicans would push a trans healthcare ban in their ACA negotiations.

Now, the plan is released, and it includes heavy restrictions on ACA plans, a medicaid ban, an EHB ban, and more.

Democrats must not capitulate.
Democrats Must Reject The Premise Of Trans Healthcare Bans In Republican Healthcare Offer
Republicans new healthcare bill would bar transgender healthcare as an essential health benefit, bar trans medicaid coverage, and would bar HSAs from considering trans healthcare medically necessary.

Of all the pressing issues for we in RI, its unlikely suppressing public protests was on anyone's top ten things. Except for these nine men. Democrats? Bluebeards.
Nine Rhode Island State Senators want to decide where and how you may protest

"...Rhode Island laws already impose criminal penalties for obstructing a roadway," notes RIACLU's Steven Brown. "There is no need for another law that is clearly designed simply to be more punitive."

One small step RI can take. The debt has been sold for pennies on the dollar, yet the new owners seek the original amount. Arbirtrage of pain and suffering. Maybe time to stop that.
You shouldn’t be burdened with financial uncertainty just because you got sick.

While the Trump administration is causing chaos and making health care unaffordable for working families, in Illinois, we are working to ease the financial burden for the most vulnerable.

The movement we stand a part of is based on creating a culture that embraces the human dignity of all people. Without the right to vote and making that process as transparent as well as accessible, bodily freedom and consequently, a form of democracy, is impossible.

The panel is filled with the most vitriolic of anti-trans activists.

Going to a #NoKings rally today? Good but let’s be careful and consider surveillance still.

All rallies are important but let’s get ready to do it every day and in front of law makers because this people power changes the discourse- we’ve seen it in action when we passed the Repro Privacy Act.
