Imagine having voted for every policy that increased child homelessness by 100% in just 4yrs - and let’s not forget the lifting of the no-fault eviction ban that is the main driver of homelessness - and thinking that you have the high moral ground on the housing crisis…

One thing this election seems to be showing is that the influence of the Indo, Mail etc has declined considerably. Nobody is listening anymore. #aras25

There are four barristers in the cabinet, including Jim O'Callaghan. If they had an ounce of gumption they'd speak up about the nonsense FG are sprouting. #aras25

Fine Gael know all this, but they think the Irish electorate is too thick to understand the nuance of it, so they attacked CC anyway.
Remember what they think of you when you go to the ballot box.
RTE finally had a barrister on this morning who confirmed that barristers are 1) required to take clients in their area of expertise and 2) have a duty of confidentiality and shouldn't talk about their own cases.

FG is undermining the rule of law with their attacks.

barristers should not be identified with their clients or their clients’ causes or suffer adverse consequences as a result of being so identified.

Heather Humphreys honoured a disgraced ex-garda after he was accused of extreme domestic violence and found by a tribunal to have corruptly organised planting weapons and fabricated evidence.

An ‘exceptional award’ she said.

Simon Harris says a Catherine Connolly win in the presidential election next week "would not impact Government thinking on changes to the triple lock in any way," reports Irish Times political correspondent @ellenmcoyne.bsky.social

If the tiny circle of political journalists that dominate our broadsheets and airwaves left their bubble for a moment, they'd find 14,000 signed up volunteers knocking on doors, holding fundraisers, and talking to people about why
@catherinegalway.bsky.social is the only candidate.

Both FG and FF had planned to run candidates supporting their moves to integrate Ireland into EU defence arrangements.

One or other would win.

They would then claim to have a popular mandate.

That looks set to backfire spectacularly.

The ballot paper for Ireland’s presidential election is unlawful – and gives an unfair advantage to Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil’s candidates.

The legislation is clear.

The Ditch is challenging – in the High Court if necessary.

Unlawful election ballot gives FG, FF undue advantage
Why weren't small, legally required efforts made with the presidential election ballot?

Having a flashback to when a senior Garda contacted my college in Oxford to try to get me expelled because of my conviction

Then head of the college former DPP Ken McDonald told me about it in a slightly embarrassed tone

Funnily enough, he also had a conviction for drug dealing

Comment: The British state these men, which is to say colonialism killed them. Their GAA membership was their commitment to republican ideals. It also marked them as targets of the same structural forces our flag sided with in Croke Park on Sunday.

I don’t know why this stayed with me. Three years ago and it’s halftime of Newcastle United against Manchester City at St James’s Park. I’m in the East Stand, cigarette smoked, queuing for burgers.

You do *not* resolve conflicts, and the NI conflict wasn't resolved, by outside powers dictating who can and who can't speak for one party.

Especially if those outside powers have been actively assisting ethnic cleansing and mass war crimes in that conflict for 75 years, and now genocide.

She's right, for good or bad, as the IRA were part of the fabric of Ireland.
That doesn't equate to Ireland = IRA, same as Palestine ≠ Hamas, but part of the fabric nonetheless, people getting their grundies all shitty need to look at the GFA or learn how to read.
PART of the fabric.
Fuckin hell.
Catherine Connolly has criticised British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for saying Hamas should be excluded from any future Palestinian government, arguing that the group is "part of the fabric of the Palestinian people"

Canvassed Donegal with Catherine on Thursday and Friday. Hectic few days but a pleasure to see the esteem this woman is held in. We should all be proud to have her as president.
