Nobody in the world, nobody in history, has ever gotten their freedom by appealing to the moral sense of the people who were oppressing them. -

I could be upset that I’ve broadcast slight misinformation that has been seen by 10k+ people but on the other hand, “never trust a merry prankster.”

I messed up which Gorge it is. Please scroll thread for more accuracy. Good WWII facts!

“How the Irish became white” is a transformative book on race in America

It was a running bit so it would be hysterical to change it throughout with all the jump cuts and bad edits

Travel is fatal to prejuidce, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime. - Mark Twain

On the Blue Zone island of Ikaria is this tiny beach called Seychelles. It was created by a somewhat recent landslide so travel to it is by a relatively dangerous hike or a water taxi.

I saw plenty of hikers of all abilities reach the beach, but many looked uneasy with the last bit.

I messed up. It’s the Kourtaliotiko Gorge.
thecolfax.bsky.social
Also, I’m a dumbass. It was Kourtaliotiko Gorge.

No! There are signs for it on the road and a parking lot. You pay a $5 fee at a small station and hike about 2 miles and 10 flights of stairs. The waterfall cave can easily be missed if you don’t know to look for it. Most hikers either didn’t know it was there or didn’t want to brave the water

We should all be there right now

Oh, yeah it’s open water. No tunnels or anything.

I did swim into a couple of other caves in diff parts of Crete. In the warm sea tho.

More pix forthcoming

My wife did hours of research on Crete. Travel books, the whole thing. We got to our place near Paleachora and I went on Insta for 10 minutes and saw it. We were staying 15 minutes from it for 4 days and it was dumb luck that I found it.

Drinkable likely except for all the goats wandering around up top crapping into it

That’s up to how you swim I guess. I was expecting to wade there but it quickly got too deep. 20 ft?

There are powerful forces in this world/universe that care not for the crazy things we humans do to each other. They just keep churning waterfalls, sunrises, and moon beams
