And with that--I've completed my embroidery version of the Solas tarot card triptych! I stated back in 2021 with the Hierophant and refined so many things about my process along the way. So happy to be able to see the full set together! A real labor of love ❤️

YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
threadwolf.bsky.social
thank you so much!!! i truly spent at least a dozen hours online looking at fabrics to find good matches (and dyed the torso fabric darker to be a better match once I got it), I'm so happy with how they finally turned out all together!

Here's the screenshots & reference images I used for making this, for those unfamilair with him ;) huge thanks to the model maker Mathilde Mazen from the Sandfall team, who included some detail shots of the prop on artstation! It made recreating this so much easier www.artstation.com/artwork/y4qoex

And of course--the secret pocket in the back seam to hold Esquie's special rocks, Verso's wine, and maybe a suspicious mushroom!! This element was a lot of extra work to include but so worth it.

Anyway--play @expedition33.bsky.social by @sandfallgames.bsky.social immediately. 10/10 experience
A hand holding the Esquie plushie upright as it sits on a sewing desk the back of the Esquie plushie with the zipper opened up, showing several rocks, a ceramic mushroom, and a metal flask inside a photo of a hand removing the silver colored flask from the pocket A photo of the Esquie plushie propped up on the sewing desk with the rocks and mushroom on the desk in front of it, and a hand pouring red liquid from the flask into a crystal glass. I admit in the alt text only it is pomegranate juice and not real wine because i don't actually like wine.

I wanted this plushie to feel as luxurious as a real rich family's toy from the 1800s, so I used upholstery fabrics like chenille, velvet, microsuedes, etc. And put tons of time into the small details & notions to get him perfect, like using shell buttons for the eyes rather than plastic

♥️ Mon ami! ♥️
Sharing my finished Esquie plushie from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33!! As soon as I finished the game, I was so emotional I just had to be able to hug this toy in real life 😭 truly an incredible game 💔

detail pics in reply :)

a photo of a plushie recreation of the Esquie toy from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It is being held in front of the camera by a person in a ruffly white shirt and black skirt. A collage of two photos of the Esquie plushie. The first is the front of the toy as it rests on a couch. The second is of the back of the toy on a desk, with a hand opening a zipper on the back seam. A collage of two photos of the Esquie plushie. The first shows a hand holding 4 small rocks and one ceramic mushroom that had been inside the pocket on the back seam, and you can see a metal flask still inside the pocket. The second photo shows the front of the toy sitting on the desk, with the rocks/mushroom next to it, and a hand pouring red juice from the flask into a wineglass also on the desk in front of the plushie and rocks.

i loved these guys so much. spent ages chasing them around the map, made a mod to give them smooch marks on their little heads, and even commissioned art (@Raposabranca) of Rook finally catching one 😂 sad there was more content for them we'll never see but glad they made it in in some way still!!!

Have been giving my wrists a break from embroidery for a few weeks, so have been doing other sewing projects instead... mainly working on the pattern mockup for an Esquie plushie from #ClairObscur #expedition33 !! obsessed with this game & this waterballoon (wineballoon...) of a creature
A collage of images. Top image is 3 views of the stuffed toy version of Esquie from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Bottom row is three photos of a white muslin mock up trying to recreate the shape and stitching of the in game asset.

Yay!!! Keep at it!! I improved SO MUCH in the first few months I was embroidering, it was like night and day. And even more over the years since! much of embroidery isn't actually hard, just takes some patience until your muscle memory gets more even and smooth :)
threadwolf.bsky.social
I finished the game last night and I have been an emotional wreck since. i can't think about anything else, and my heart is now a puddle on the floor. this is the most beautiful game i've encountered in years and years... do yourself a favor and play it when you can

Thank you!!! 🥰

by far the biggest "breakthrough" i had was not actually about stitching at all, but how to transfer a pattern directly to fabric using my printer instead of more fiddly methods. All the stitching work just needs patience, not much particular skill! The Hierophant piece was my 5th embroidery ever!
threadwolf.bsky.social
I do want to note that while I took like 4 years to make an updated version of this piece, most of that improvement actually came in the following couple weeks. it was mostly just figuring out how to lay threads better to shade & using less strands. All these below pieces were made within 6 months!
a piece of fabric with 4 embroidery hoops on top of it, based off art from Dragon Age: Inquisition. There is a hoop with a red heart, a blue hand with a star in it, a green elf with magic swirls, and the character Solas as posed for his 'romance' tarot card the Hierophant.

I recently decided to redo my very first Dragon Age themed embroidery piece (and second embroidery ever), since my technique changed & improved so much since then! Here's a little side by side ♥️❤️♥️ I really perfected the stained glass look after that one

#dragonage #DAFanFriday #dragonageinquisition
A photograph of a 3.5'' embroidery hoop resting on top of a pot with greenery and a few pink flowers. The hoop contains an embroidery of the "romance" icon art from Dragon Age: Inquisition of a heart surrounded by geometric shapes, mimicking the appearance of stained glass. The embroidery is done in all satin stitch to mimic the smoothness and shading of glass. A close up photo of the embroidery showing details in the stitching, and the metallic thread used to make the read heart in the center stand out more from the surrounding cotton threads A side by side photo of the embroidery and an older one in a similar style. The design is the same, but the stitching direction and use of color to shade each section has been refined in the newer piece, which looks smoother and and less messy.
