Yes Unions! But bc of what you said, organizing outside private companies is what will hold them accountable for doing right. Think bigger and look to other community members. You’re not alone. The more ppl from a diverse pool of orgs, the better for us and the world we’re tying to build. Good luck!

A.C., what is food apartheid?

Think of a 1 mile radius. Now think of the food access points within that circle. Who is profiting from the foods provided in the zip code?

Are folks able to get to healthy, nutritious foods without relying on individual transportation?

All it takes are racist policies to ensure food apartheid is in place, crippling you with chronic illnesses and thus taking your power to organize away

Speaking of that god-awful grocery store, they were heavy on financing laws to lockup dumpsters at grocery stores to prevent folks from dumpster diving

In other words, they are responsible, at least in the last 15 years or so, for making it illegal to fetch perfectly good dumped foods

And if they can’t afford it, imagine those who pick the fields?

And how violent must it be to look at nourishment day after day when you are told it doesn’t belong to you 💔

Speaking of food delivery, every time I think back to my food policy work and order food either at restaurants, online, from grocery stores, or wherever, I remember that most of these people are food insecure 😔

Yes, and, I cannot imagine migrating to a country that hates me under the pretense of an American dream while trying to deliver other people’s food in a traffic or housing/mail system that I dont understand 😔
