Jesus-follower (Anglican/Mennonite hybrid), husband, dad, grandpa, friend, neighbour, folk musician.

If you start following me and I see that you follow 14 million other people, I may well block you, for obvious reasons.
I notice that a lot of people who believe in life after death tend to assume that many things will continue just as they are, and this is only natural. In today's gospel, however, Jesus would seem to indicate, that the reality is going to be much more transformational than we've expected.

Matt represents my riding, so we'll get a do-over of the election. Matt's was the closest election in Edmonton; he defeated his Liberal opponent by 5 points. The Liberals will be looking for an upset, but they won't be getting my vote. I'll be voting for a party that takes climate change seriously.

Thanks of course to right wing and business interests, to politicians like Trump and Musk and Poilievre and their addiction to short term gain over long term sustainability—but also to people like Mark Carney and his so-called ‘Liberal’ government, who abandoned the fight for political expediency.
The axis of Liberal/Conservative/Authoritarian/Billionaire politicians just abandoning the climate crisis really spells disaster for life on this planet. It is shocking how countries have just given up on trying to stop global warming.
Opinion: The fight against climate change appears to be officially dead
Rich countries are feeling less inclined to fight emissions in the years ahead, which will affect the world’s most disadvantaged

@mariadunnmusic.bsky.social and her associates put on a wonderful show for us at Festival Place tonight, giving us some old familiar songs and introducing us to some excellent new ones from her brand new CD, 'Hardscrabble Hope'—a copy of which I was happy to bring home with me!

Not mentioned in the article: air travel is a massive carbon producer, and private jets are the worst offenders in terms of effect per passenger. If we want to lower carbon production we should be cutting back on private jets, not building more of them.

Tried this again and couldn’t get past the first question. There was no option that worked for me.

Who are the ‘family’ of Jesus today, who are offended by his radical teaching and refuse to believe him? Is it, sometimes, his church?

How do you spell ‘corrupt’?

You…see…
Today Elections Alberta requested $13.5 million to be able to administer recalls and referendum.

The UCP committee in charge revised their request to just over $1 million.

And then voted it through.

The UCP just defunded recall/referendum.

Probably a cheap way to absorb carbon, but of course, the Liberals don’t give a shit about that any more. Instead of influencing public opinion, they’re running from it.

I was today years old when I learned that the modern state of Israel was not the first to use aerial bombing and strafing to attack noncombatant Arabs who had no air force or anti-aircraft weaponry If you have a horrible feeling that you know which state (and when) it was, you’re probably right.

Beautiful reflection by Charlie Angus.
Today is the Day of the Dead. 40 years ago today Brit Griffin and I got married. My mom said nobody gets married on the day of the dead. We thought it was the perfect day. Still do.
My reflections on 4 plus decades together.

and lift up the lowly;
fill the hungry with good things
and send the rich away empty.'
