Totally. I do think there’s also more than a little bit of ”self-defense“ really meaning ”appropriate retribution.” Like what’s really being said is “mess with a cop and you’re gonna get what’s coming to you,” rather than a serious contention that he was protecting himself from being harmed.

I desperately need someone to acknowledge that even if the obvious lies were true, shooting a driver in the head DOES NOT MAKE THE VEHICLE STOP, AS THE VIDEO CLEARLY SHOWS! Even in their fantasy world the self-defense argument makes no goddamn sense!

The thing that is breaking my brain about this right wing response is that as the video clearly shows, shooting a driver in the head DOES NOT MAKE THE VEHICLE STOP! If she was actually trying to hit him, shooting her would not have stopped it!! The lie doesn’t even make sense on its own terms!!

The need for social acceptance and validation is deep in our brains, and some smart people iteratively built apps to prey on that as effectively as possible. Wealth does not immunize

Watching our mad king don his AI slop crown and publicly fantasize about rage shitting on our moment of collective power is the perfect counterpoint: he's the one isolated in his impotent fury, clinging to the online simulacrum while we primally express and experience our very real strength.

He also goes on to name immigration, diversity, and recent economic changes (in this case industrialization) as reasons why the North isn’t “real America.”

Also makes the familiar move of channeling people’s unease/anger at economic/capitalist changes into unease/anger at social change as well.

And simultaneously darkly funny that even though he’s in a whole other league now (billions in crypto schemes and stock market front running) he can’t seem to help continuing penny ante late night infomercial grifting. It’s deep in the essence of who he is.
