Of course, not all of them felt this way. Niall Ferguson, for example, projected a serene confidence that I found somewhat shocking

'You said you wanted minerals!'

'Yesterday. Yesterday I wanted the minerals. Today I want your nuclear energy infrastructure'

'And tomorrow? What will you want then?'

'Just put the power plants in the bag'

'...'

'And the minerals'

With Mark Bedford of the band Madness backstage at the Whisky a Go Go Los Angeles, California; mid-March 1980. The @gogosofficial.bsky.social opened for them. Then in April of 1980, we went to England and opened for them on their UK tour. Members of Madness also appeared in our Go-Go's documentary.

THERAPIST: the great clown Pagliacci is in town. Go see him, he’s great. I’ve think his performance saved my marriage. My wife and I quote bits of it to each other and laugh. In his own way he’s been a ray of sunlight in our lives. I’ll respect him forever for what it did for me.
PATIENT: 🥲

Progress that isn't progress: Encona West Indian Hot Pepper Sauce in squeezy bottles. There is none of the flow control you have with the traditional glass bottles. It's either nothing or a lake.

Mandelson is "box office" in the way Coronation Street is "box office".

Still a big deal for anyone in the UK over the age of 35 but a baffling obscurity to anyone younger or anywhere else in the world.
