A migrant quiet bit of birding at Whitby with @ollie333.bsky.social yesterday was highlighted by one of the best birds we’re lucky enough to see almost every autumn on the Yorkshire coast, Yellow-browed Warbler 😍 #UKBirding

Today the Hobby kits have been learning about crows- no protection on hand from the adults as the female is long departed and the male doesn't do child minding except for feeding... happy ending as the grabbed bird got rescued in fine style by its siblings. #UKbirding

The last of the 4 previous #StKilda Baird's Sandpiper records was in 1999, and finding a 2nd bird on 16th was a surprise in itself. That 2nd bird was neither of these two though, meaning that Will found a 3rd of the year this morning. Madness! @birdguides.bsky.social

Can species reintroductions harm biodiversity rather than help it? Are we using reintroductions as a distraction from the real drivers of our nature crisis? Listen to my conversation with the one and only @alexanderlees.bsky.social 🌍🦤🧪🪶

A middle-aged man with a bald head sits in front of bookshelves filled with scientific and academic texts in what appears to be a home office or study. He's wearing a dark grey jumper and has a slight smile whilst looking directly at the camera.

LESSER KESTREL on #StKilda! Retrospectively identified from Will Miles' excellent images on 16th Sept. We'd recorded a Kestrel from 12th, possibly the same bird, but sadly not relocated today.

Maybe! Although not ideal winds for a direct arrival potential for some to filter down in the south-westerlies, but probably quite unlikely seen as there has only been this one reported so far!
