Always weird to have a wild animal encounter and know that you will never be so close to one again. Had it with a golden eagle, Virginia rail, river otter, moose, a few others. Every Mtn lion feels that way too.

This winter is so warm that in the past week I have seen tree swallows, a bat flying around, a bumblebee, and camas starting to grow leaves. These are all March activities.

It is amazing that the most flooded watershed in WA, in an incredibly poor rural area, is not experiencing flooding when the rest of the state is underwater. Giving water a place to go that isn’t a levee/dike/dam.

Actually kinda incredible to the impact of floodplain reconnection. A decade ago this amount of rain trapped a coworker in a building for 4 days. Today the water barely came close to the road.
