AELITA (1924) is famous for its sci-fi design but a great deal of the film takes place on earth with an ordinary man dreaming of Mars and its despotic rulers. Queen Aelita at first seems to side with the interplanetary socialist revolution but then betrays the workers.

Rest assured that none of my characters consent, ever. The fictional people I create do not consent to the fictional scenarios I put them in that are not happening in real life. They hate it, it's pretend traumatizing to them, and they pretend-wish to escape from the things that aren't happening.

Oh you assumed the cartoon character getting plowed is consenting because they look happy? How naïve. They're pretending because they were coerced by the other character. There's actually untold amounts of abuse happening to cartoon characters behind the scenes. We must take waifu welfare seriously

THE COUNTRYMAN AND THE CINEMATOGRAPH (1901) was a joke that was taken seriously by later generations. "Look at this smock-wearing country dolt, I bet he thinks movie trains will hit him!" quickly became a much-repeated "fact" about early cinema.

There was a rather charming trend in the 1910s to introduce the actor at the beginning of the film by showing them first in their street or evening clothes and then dissolving into the costume of their characters. Here we see recent stage import William S. Hart become a bandit in THE BARGAIN (1914).

Reading a lot of yaoi comics today. A lot of goodies but also quit reading one that had gorgeous art but goodness gracious it was so overwritten. The whole point of prose in comics is to express what you can't express visually and/or compress information and time....not bloat it
