This was my grandpa in central Illinois too. A welder with a one-man shop, he was born in the 1920s and lived his whole life in the same village of 1000 people. He died in 2007 in a house down the street from the one he was born in, and I’m 99% sure he voted straight ticket D his entire life.

They probably believe what my scoutmaster told me: if you have money it makes sense to be a Republican; if you don’t it makes sense to be a Democrat.

(Of course then the real trick modern Rs pulled off was convincing poor people they might be rich someday and should vote accordingly.)

If the World Series is Mariners v. Brewers, I will be so very happy, and I will also be fucking insufferable about the one-season existence of the Seattle Pilots (who moved to Milwaukee and became the Brewers). In every conversation about ANYthing, I will be, like, "But did you know....."
