If we narrow the analysis to focus only on projects that have been paused, canceled, or closed (excluding delays and reductions in size) over the past year, the lost investments (-$46.7B) far exceed newly announced investments (+$16.1B) during that time period. 🔌💡

In year one, Trump’s policies have SLOWED - closed, delayed, etc. - 70 clean energy manufacturing projects worth $74B and 68,958 jobs.

109 projects have still ADVANCED - moving toward construction or operation - worth $61B and 61,107 jobs.

Louansee Moua says ICE agents came to her brother-in-law’s apartment, handcuffed him and forced him outside in freezing weather in boxers.

She says Saly, a U.S. citizen, was released after they realized “he had no criminal history and no reason to be detained.”

They did not allow him to put on proper clothing and forced him outside in freezing weather. Saly is a naturalized U.S. citizen. He has NO criminal record. ICE drove him around for nearly an hour, questioned him, and fingerprinted him. Only after all of that did they realize he had no criminal history and no reason to be detained. They then dropped him back off at his apartment like nothing happened. We believe they were looking for someone who previously lived there, but instead of asking for identification, they chose violence, intimidation, and humiliation. What makes this even more painful is Saly’s story. During the war in Laos, his mother, Nurse Choua Thao, helped a Lao woman deliver premature twins. The mother could not care for them. Choua took the boy, Saly, and one of her fellow nurses took the girl. Choua ensured all her children became naturalized U.S. citizens. She believed deeply in doing things the right way, in protecting life, dignity, and family. To see her son treated like this, in front of family, with weapons drawn, is beyond traumatic. This is not about politics. This is about basic human rights, due process, and accountability. No family should experience this. No child should witness this. And no U.S. citizen should be treated this way. Please share. Silence allows this to keep happening. Louansee Moua

In 2023, Consumer Reports found that fuel economy standards are in no way responsible for rising car prices. The culprit is the shift away from cars to SUVs and trucks.

The data is clear that strong federal fuel economy and greenhouse gas standards work, and deliver huge savings to consumers. Based upon the statistical analysis in this study, we can now conclude that these savings have come with no statistically significant, inflation-adjusted cost to consumers in terms of increased vehicle purchase price. In addition to more efficient vehicles, consumers are also getting safer vehicles as the result of improved safety standards—all without paying more on an inflation-adjusted basis. Reported changes in average automotive transaction prices appear to be primarily driven by automaker and consumer shifts toward larger, more expensive SUVs and away from smaller and cheaper cars, rather than by improvements in fuel economy or safety technology. The CR data presented illustrate that on a same vehicle nameplate or same vehicle class basis, new vehicle prices have seen no systemic increase. At the same time, these vehicles have become safer, less polluting, more efficient, and more capable.

I had also hoped that the white moderate would reject the myth concerning time in relation to the struggle for freedom. I have just received a letter from a white brother in Texas. He writes: "All Christians know that the colored people will receive equal rights eventually, but it is possible that you are in too great a religious hurry. It has taken Christianity almost two thousand years to accomplish what it has. The teachings of Christ take time to come to earth." Such an attitude stems from a tragic misconception of time, from the strangely irrational notion that there is something in the very flow of time that will inevitably cure all ills. Actually, time itself is neutral; it can be used either destructively or constructively. More and more I feel that the people of ill will have used time much more effectively than have the people of good will. We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people. Human progress never rolls in on wheels of inevitability; it comes through the tireless efforts of men willing to be co workers with God, and without this hard work, time itself becomes an ally of the forces of social stagnation. We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right. Now is the time to make real the promise of democracy and transform our pending national elegy into a creative psalm of brotherhood. Now is the time to lift our national policy from the quicksand of racial injustice to the solid rock of human dignity.
