What I will say on Carrick just because someone doesn't succeed at one club doesn't mean he won't at another, no matter what level

I feel we all do this, but it's easy to write off Carrick off the bat for not 'succeeding' with Boro but football, management and coaching is more nuanced than that
How do people feel about Carrick? Loved him as a player ofc, but not got a great feeling about next few months

Late to this but really enjoyed. Rory points about Marseille and Napoli's self awareness v good

Alex Toth at Bournemouth would be fun
🔹 Joel Piroe not expected to leave Leeds United this month
🔹 Bournemouth interested in Alex Toth
🔹 Nottingham Forest admiration for Marcus Tavernier
🔹 Newcastle United move for Kees Smit appears unlikely this month

All of this, and more, in the Transfer DealSheet ⤵️

At least there's now fewer games where we have to listen to TNT Darren Fletcher

Dorgu looked like we wasting time in the corner at the end

Oh Fletch, Cas had to come on for Ugarte there
January 11, 2026 at 5:51 PM
Hope we move Ugarte on soon so I don't have to keep enduring the second hand embarrassment of watching a man repeatedly fail to pass a football to his teammate

Feel like we could do worse than Hurzeler

The Hungarian filmmaker Béla Tarr's work bears “the ominous weight of a prophecy,” according to Justin Chang. Read his reflections on the legacy of the “Sátántangó” director. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/lmSYVX
Béla Tarr’s Unbroken Visions
In muckily deliberative masterworks such as “Sátántangó” and “The Turin Horse,” the Hungarian director monumentalized the process of decay and the passage of time.

🚨🇫🇷 RC Strasbourg agree deal in principle to appoint Gary O’Neill as new head coach. BlueCo pick O’Neill as replacement for Liam Rosenior who’s signed for Chelsea. Long term contract agreed today.

Enjoyed this as a cold hard analysis of the football, system and direction under Amorim from @zonal-marking.bsky.social

Ultimately, I think it was just an awkward fit. I think he was too tempestuous for this kind of job at this stage of his career, and his system and dogma was just so unsuited to the players and the club

That's on the board not Amorim. But as a board you also need to recognise your mistakes and act
I wasn't a hater, but I am glad tbh. Didn't like what he'd become, didn't like how he operated, didn't like what I was seeing on the pitch, and didn't think he was the man to take us back to the top.

Is annoying to rip it all up again, but I'd rather pull the plug now than string this all out

I also think we'll finish the season in a higher position this season under Fletcher than we would've under Amorim. Just don't give him the job full time plz
