Some dream jobs I’d love:

• being the person to read & suggest romance novels for a film/tv/spicy audio company to adapt
• having a imprint to publish romance, mystery, thrillers, poetry

so if anyone wants to take a chance on pleasure & joy in the midst of chaos, hire me. Let’s make it happen.

Just finished The Invisible Man’s Revenge (1944). I need a proper documentary on the Carradines, a Hollywood family that maybe doesn’t get highlighted as it should. Those Carradine men are prolific 😳

I look at the older ones like theatre. I will happily pretend the guy in the costume is a believable werewolf if you sell me on the acting.

Watching old horror movies on Peacock. They are so good! Yes, the practical effects can seem cheesy now and the actors really knew how to chew scenery but they did so much with so little

Ohhh so that’s why ole girl made a point to say she’s “not a bad bitch and this isn’t savage…”

[there were very strong rumors that TK tried to holler at MTS]

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Melanie disturbed the nature of things by chasing after Mitch, instead of being approached properly, which made the birds attack. It wasn’t until she was catatonic— and therefore easily led— that the birds left them alone. Order had been restored. #TheBirds

And in cases of IVF, where they can select for sex or look for certain genetic abnormalities & reject those embryos, they can’t do that for autism so attempts at perfect eugenic babies can be for naught and how dare they not be able to control what kind of children they have
tnwhiskeywoman.bsky.social
Remember how as soon as the stat came out that POC were most affected by covid, 👱🏻‍♀️👨🏼‍💼
stopped caring about precautions bc it became a “those people/ low class” issue? They can’t do that with autism & it fucks with them. bsky.app/profile/tres...

I think…people’s obsession with “a cause”…is precisely because autism’s genetic randomness is hard to stratify by social class……………..

THERE. ARE. NO. 'CAUSES'. OF. AUTISM.

(other than being born as a member of Homo sapiens, which is a huge risk factor for turning out to be Autistic).

The local ornithologist in The Birds claimed crows aren’t intelligent enough to plan attacks but after 20 years of social media, we know that’s false!

Now I’m watching The Birds which reminds me that Hitchcock’s whole thing was mothers and beautiful women are the cause of all pain and destruction 🫩 bless his heart
mattzollerseitz.bsky.social
When you put it that way, it also reminds me that Hitchcock was Catholic!

If you taught this over zoom, I’d join in a heartbeat. The dialogue is so sharp & the actors do incredible work with it.

The dangers of love: between a boy & his mother; falling for a married man leads to no good. The vulnerable indignity of death in the bathroom. It’s so layered!

Watching Psycho (1960) from my sickbed. It’s my favorite film ever and I think the scariest part is how Marion turns on the shower while standing directly under the spray. No warm up, no temp check. Just raw.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Sure 🤷🏾‍♀️

I think this may be the first time I’ve seen so many fans be like “uhh grow up maybe?” even as they maintain financial loyalty. I wonder if it’s bc they’ve moved into Etsy wine mom territory— still cutesy but with real shit weighing on them so mean girl fantasies don’t hit the same any more??? Idk

As a confessional writer, I don’t think there’s anything wrong using your life as creative fodder but I do wonder when do you move past using your work as personal diary? When do you hold yourself accountable? Revenge is cute but what about reflection? When do you stop reacting to life and build it?

I like it when male fitness influencers & the thirst trap guys tuck a towel in the front of their pants to hide their bulges. Go off, modesty kings! So cute!
