The main auto workers' union, Unifor, has passed a resolution calling for plants to be seized if companies try to shift production to the U.S., and at a Windsor tool maker, workers blocked trucks that were trying to leave with equipment.

“After all the shouting and the saber-rattling and the lecturing and the pleading and the politicking had ceased, the American president shifted a little in his seat and shared an observation.

“This is going to be great television,” he remarked. “I will say that.””

The “section” of the US ruling class most committed to rethinking US foreign policy in an increasingly multipolar world is led politically by those the least capable of diplomatically maneuvering through it. The US in the 3rd decade of the 21st c; diplomacy in the age of social media & reality tv.

Here’s my response to the resurgence of Canadian nationalism — left & otherwise — in the context of the tariff war: a political dead end, we need instead a much more far reaching, & internationalist, response animated by struggles from below.

Weakening environmental regulations, more pipeline expansion, defending “our” critical minerals — it’s clear Cdn capital & the state are exploiting the crisis caused by Trump’s tariff war to pursue what’s always been their plan but which is made much easier if we accept _their_ nationalist agenda.

“If the Fed had spent less time on [diversity, equity and inclusion], gender ideology, ‘green’ energy, and fake climate change, inflation would never have been a problem.”

Just an “awkward gesture”according to the msm & zionists? By the man doubling down on his support for the AFD, speaking to its election rally today & insisting “There is too much focus on past guilt, and we need to move beyond that.”

Clearly in-fighting in Trump circles isn’t bw a non-far right (the tech billionaires) and the far-right MAGA core, but bw far right factions. Whether they’ll be reconciled or it’ll combust, supporting visas for tech workers doesn’t negate support for the European far right or giving nazi salutes.

Another expression of how politically useless and bereft of vision the NDP is. Singh’s default response is to defend the free trade status quo premised in the deepening property rights of capital at the expense of workers & the environment.
