Retired Ind Engineer, trying to write a book, dad to three wonderful daughters and three granddaughters, one grandson. Follow Cleveland sports, math, physics, and classic comedies. Oh, yeah. Tend liberal. Most of what I write is meant to be humorous.
#WritersCoffeeClub day 15: How big are your settings?

Well, in a paperback, about 6" x 9".

#WordWeavers Feb 15: Describe your MC’s eyes.

He has the kind of eyes a woman gets lost in and a man finds his character.

I patterned him after the author

With a private bathroom for the executive office.

Do you use maps as reference materials as you write?

So tough... I'm a guy and genetically predisposed to avoid maps. But, my MC travels the world.

Fortunately, I have three daughters that I trust to get me to check a map.

#WordWeavers 12, What would you tell a fellow writer who was struggling with self-doubt?

Writing and cooking for a crowd are similar in that the best of both are when you do it for yourself first.

#WritersCoffeeClub 12 Feb: How unique is the setting of your current WIP?

Starts locally (Lakewood, Ohio) and ends up globally. Thank Google Maps for helping with the locals. I've been to many of those places, but details are important.

#WordWeavers 2/11 MC POV
Sit down, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. What do you see in your mind's eye?

Pancakes.

Did I mention I wrote this in the morning?

#WritersCoffeeClub 11: What time of day is most productive for you? Why?

Right after I decide to start writing. Because I get so much done around the house during my "writing avoidance" hours.

It's that time of year when the sun is a little brighter, people seem a little nicer, and a man's heart leaps at the sound of those three little words...

#WordWeavers day 8: What's the most frustrating thing about writing?

So many great ideas that don't fit into the story. (Trust me, they are great. I was told that by me.)

#WritersCoffeeClub Feb 8th: How imperfect is your pacing? Do you consider imperfection a sign of your humanity?

First novel, so... pretty sure I get long-winded at times. Fortunately, I like to hear myself talk.

#WordWeavers Day 7: What’s the most rewarding thing about writing?
#writing

I stay inside my "special room" when I talk to myself. Way better than out walking and talking to myself.

Share an important or fun lesson you’ve learned as a writer.

Everybody wants to know about my WIP. That's why I keep talking about it.

Yep. They all are really interested. Yessirree.

#writersCoffeeClub 2/6: From start to finish, how much time elapses in your current WIP?

As the author, I have NO idea. But, looking over the activities, I would say two years.

And the MC still can't get laid.

#WritersCoffeeClub day 4: How much detail do you use to describe your settings?

Mostly, I work on valid locations and such (streets, restaurants, menus). I rarely delve into attire or weather unless I can get a laugh out of them.

#WordWeavers Day 4: Look back at the first thing you wrote. What did you do right?

It was a work email. (SYSM for those that recall it.) I didn't get fired.

What signature marks your work as definitively and effectively yours?

People read it in my voice, even if they have never heard me speak.

#WritersCoffeeClub 2/1. How satisfied are you with your current writerly 'voice'?

I've had two people tell me I relate stories so well that I should write.

Both know I am writing a novel.

No idea what this means. I don't know any people like that.

Coffee grinding. A weak cup of coffee is a true waste!

#WritersCoffeeClub Jan 26: Do you include things you personally find repellent in your work?

I am appalled by misogyny, racism, and other belittling traits in people. I have included these in my WIP. I have tried to incorporate these without bias by placing myself in their shoes.
