Some kind of artist who probably spends too much time programming tools instead of making art. For a bit of both, see for instance: tomlechner.com
Washington state House Appropriations defunded the Columbia River Gorge Commission. This would end up cutting Oregon's funding to protect it from the bastards trying to destroy our parks. Saturday, it goes to the WA House to vote on the budget. Here's a form from Friends of the Gorge to get to reps:

I'll be giving a workshop in Pasadena on March 9 for how to make video game vegetation sway in the wind, as part of the #Scale22x linux conference's Libre Graphics track. Come on down, and let any gamedev/open source art meetup folks in the LA area know! www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale/22x/pr...

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns.
100% of his salary is paid by WA state.

If you are into making art with open source software, or you make such software, you should consider talking about it at this year’s Libre Graphics Meeting! If you are just curious, come to it anyway, it’s a good way to meet people passionate about making art software free to all.

Great conversation about the editorial cartooning profession with colleagues @jackohman.bsky.social @jensorensen.bsky.social and Barry Blitt--->
Following @anntelnaes.bsky.social's ethical stance at a time of vanishing editorial cartoonist jobs, this is a fascinating, inspiring, more than a bit distressing @fastcompany.com interview w/ @jensorensen.bsky.social, Barry Blitt, and Jack Ohman about the field's storied past and troubled present.

To celebrate MLK day today, the only thing worth celebrating today, I went #hiking at Mt. Defiance on the Columbia River. A brutal incline, with only a couple of good views, but still worth it to put in the effort. I only did an out-and-back hike, so it was a lot of defiance.

Some fungi and a skink, who is also a fun guy with a great tail, for Friday the 13th! Well, technically they were from yesterday, along Eagle Creek in the Columbia River Gorge, but I didn't process them till today..
