Been to a few Austin FC matches. | Pro-transit, pro-bike, pro-Austin, pro-soccer, pro-Ukraine | 210➡️512 via Raiderland
There is absolutely no way the pitch at Snapdragon Stadium should be anywhere near a professional soccer game.

At any level, for any competition.

Truly atrocious and clearly impacting play.

Yeah, Hugo, and we didn’t want to play a first round playoff match on a Wednesday night at BMO Stadium but we had to because your stadium was hosting a twenty one pilots concert over the weekend.

Welcome to the club.
Los Angeles FC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris expressed his frustration about the condition of BC Place’s artificial turf following LAFC’s playoff elimination. More: ⬇️

It is truly mind boggling that in six seasons in Major League Soccer, Austin FC has never played the Chicago Fire.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

In the last week, Virgil’s goal stood for about ten seconds, was reversed, then confirmed as not a goal by VAR, then was defended as correct by the referee’s association, and finally clarified as an incorrect call but correctly not overturned on said VAR by a league panel.

Shambolic.

The number one selfish reason to be against the fall-spring + 5 division model for a MLS season is that there is no longer an expectation for a summer away day in Minnesota.

Lots of other reasons, of course, but this is top of the list.

Has hell frozen over?

Or has there been a coup inside TxDOT?
TxDOT: Car-dominant Texas needs more public transit
As the state’s population grows, more travel options are needed in rural and smaller urban areas and between major cities, according to a draft of the first-of-its-kind plan.

I am equal parts annoyed at how awful that call was in favor of Miami that would have pulled back a goal in a critical game and amused that it happened to Nashville after watching them get away with nearly everything they wanted in the USOC final.

tl;dr: PRO is bad at their jobs.

If this is the King, this will be a generational run for the athletic department.

To me, why #ATX Prop Q failed is pretty simple:

Tax policy is complicated, and it’s easier to openly lie about it than explain why a certain proposition exists.

In this case (as with Project Connect), the tax increase would have been 20% of the *city’s portion* of your property tax.

It will remain one of life’s great pains: electing Republicans in a general election, then three straight elections of realizing that was a bad idea and slowly removing them from power.

I am once again begging the Austin American-Statesman to stop interviewing Bill Aleshire.

Or, at the very least, stop labeling him simply as a “former county judge”, ignoring he hasn’t spent the last decade running extraordinarily disruptive legal interference for NIMBY groups.

North America: your next opportunity to root against a Los Angeles playoff team is Sunday night at 7:45pm Central, when scrappy underdog Austin FC takes on the literal black and gold of LAFC.

Vamos ATX!

At some point, someone is going to have to summarize this World Series for the history books.

I wish them luck. It’s complete absurdity.

A *very* beatable LAFC side comes to Austin on Sunday. Let’s do everything we can at Q2 this Sunday to send it back to Exposition Park on October 8th.

I don’t want to “well actually” anyone but someone should tell the edgelord running the DHS Twitter that Halo’s primary plot in the first games is humanity teaming up with the Covenant to stop a fanatical religious cult from destroying the universe as a way to halt the Flood.

Halo is the weapon.

Interesting piece from the Statesman on why we are faced with Prop Q.

The short: Austin can choose to invest in the future at a cost, or follow Houston’s path down the road of austerity and loss of public services.

Don’t Houston My Austin
How Austin and Houston are addressing budget woes in radically different ways
Austin’s proposed 20% property tax increase contrasts sharply with Houston's austerity approach. Why are two blue cities taking such different approaches?
