Carlisle on Payne: "He's still getting in shape. At the timeout 5 minutes into the game, he was really tired... tried to space his runs... But he'll get his legs quickly."

"I like his feel for the game. I like his knowledge. He knows how to navigate running a team," he added.

Pacers win 116-101 and are now 4-5 against the Thunder since June 5. They play again to open the regular season. Peter leads the Pacers with 18 point this time, and both Mathurin and Toppin were effective in the first half. Walker approached a triple-double. Pacers 2-0 preseason.

Wiseman's speed, or at least his focus on sprinting down to offense, seems to be the most noticeable difference from last year so far. Layup just now, easy dunk before that, free thorws the trip prior. 8 points.

Jarace Walker doing well in the middle of the Thunder zone this half.

Pacers break the game open in the third quarter, as they did in Mnnesota, and lead 91-75 after three. Furphy injury the big moment of the frame, but Huff and Peter played well. Walker filling in the gaps.

Taelon Peter for 3. That's 18 points for him. Looks very comfortable, especially when contrasted to summer league. His 4th three of the game.
tonyreast.bsky.social
Huff with an active quarter, and he just rotated down to block a shot with some juice. That's his third block.

Walker now up to 7 points, 7 boards, and a team-high (comfortably) 6 assists.

Walker is having a pretty solid game outside of... well, making shots.

The Thunder hit a 3 and it's 79-67. A young fan close-ish behind me: "Sixty seven! Six Seven!"

Oh boy.

Johnny Furphy with a left ankle sprain and his night is done.

Johnny Furpy went down in some pain after finishing a layup. He's up and moving on his own but talking with a trainer. Timeout, Pacers.

Isaiah Jackson, Obi Toppin, and Bennedict Mathurin showered and out of uniform. They're done playing if the lineup change didn't make it obvious.

Pacers lead 62-58 at the break. Strong scoreboard close to the second quarter. Bennedict Mathurin getting to the paint and drawing fouls often so far. Mathuin, Obi Toppin, and Quenton Jackson have 44 combined points.
