Some of you will know that I recently got funding for a project on Nitrogen in society. I am here making my application accessible for others who are thinking about applying for funding—plus some background on the funding programme and a few tips.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

If a young couple move a piece of furniture in their living room and conclude, little by little, that it does not look right and that all the furniture will have to be moved for everything to fit again, who finds this worthy of note?

But if "theories" rather than tables are moved, then people talk excitedly of a Kuhnian "paradigm shift."

I know that this will sound incredibly stupid and naive, and that budgeting your time is much more tempting. Don't do it. I can give you a long sociological explanation for why not on my blog, but you can simply read Michael Ende's "Momo" or play this: hexecutable.itch.io/consume-me

If you do this right, all your time and energy will return to you, only doubled. It is not unlikely that at some point you will simply type down an article in an afternoon. But most importantly, you will feel much better about yourself and your work if you have realistic expectations.

This is a good and hard question! On a very general level, the answer is: let go. Don't turn your day into a schedule. Don't squeeze the minues and seconds out of your day. If you can, have a coffee instead. Go home an hour early. Read things you like, not homework for your own writing.

It is generally a very bad idea to use taxes to punish things that aren't really choices (because alternatives are often not available)
