“No matter how Ring and other surveillance tech companies may downplay it, there’s no world in which finding lost dogs is the final end-use for this technology.”
Opinion | Ring is using lost dogs to make the surveillance state adorable
The same technology the Amazon-owned company uses to find lost dogs could easily be turned against their owners.

So, I got hit by a car last night walking home from the bus stop

One stretch of the road has gentle curves & cars regularly drift into bike lane

There's a lot to read when it comes to analysis of this bill, so here's the tl;dr

presuming guilt, requiring evidence of innocence has become the American motto

prove you're local & borrow from the library

prove you're not a bomber & pass through TSA

prove you're a Voter & show your ID
I read the “SAVE Act” (the GOP’s new voter suppression bill) so you don’t have to. This is my one page summary. Jesus it’s bad. 1/

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
