Today I’m launching a Substack called The Friend’s Guide to Horrible Things. It’s a series of short lessons focusing on how to care for friends and family experiencing life’s unpredictable disasters. Check it out, or pass it on if you think it might help somebody. horriblethings.substack.com

My interest in season 4 was low but I figured I’d made it this far, might as well see it through, and when I got into it I WAS HOOKED. So it’ll take a bit to drum up my interest again but I imagine it will be worth the journey. It’s always fun when a show tries to wrap it all up.

I was thinking last night (as I often do this time of year) about The Nightmare Before Christmas PS2 game, and how that, and Kingdom
Hearts, are the only times we went back to Halloweentown in a meaningful way. But unless you have that disc and a PS2 or 3, no dice!

The last chapter of my Substack resonated with people more than most, and I think that's because it's more of a window into the stuff I handle on a daily basis with Milo. Some of these require a lot of research, and some just come from the heart. horriblethings.substack.com/p/chapter-15...

Same to you, Steve! Thanks for bringing the spooky all year round.

Positively jolly chatting with @islahinck.bsky.social for this month's interview on my Substack. Since she is "skilled at grief," she has a lot to share about turning pain into art, and finding the right salve for each person's hurt. horriblethings.substack.com/p/interview-...

Just watched this two days ago! More bleakness than I remember, lol. But a great story of friendship and perseverance. The 6-year-old loved it.

HUZZAH! Cheers to the beautiful couple!

Sometimes I do something funny for Milo, and I know I’m asking for it because he’ll love it and tell me to do it over and over and over. Anyway, here’s Dad Mummy (or Dad Darkman).

I'm in a really good place right now where I have games in my backlog, but I'm not currently playing anything specific, so I can focus on my writing. I'm super productive at the moment but I know whenever I decide to start up something new I'm TOAST. (stares at Death Stranding 2 in fear)
