Glad to say the Episcopal Church is included here. ⚓️
Faith communities are often portrayed as uniformly opposed to trans, intersex, & nonbinary people. The response to a recent landmark interfaith statement tells a different story — with 1,000+ people of faith and major religious leaders speaking out. Follow up on this protest — today brings good news that Sutter is backing down, for now. Thank you to all the Episcopalians and other Christians, lay and ordained, who were there. And people of all faiths. ⚓️

“There is a disgraceful misconception that all people of faith do not affirm the full spectrum of gender–a great many of us do. Let it be known instead that our beloveds are created in the image of God-Holy and whole.”

Yes, the Episcopal Church has LGBTQI2S+ bishops, priests, deacons, and lay leaders. Perhaps most famous is Bishop Gene Robinson, but many others too. We specifically have dozens of (out and proud) trans clergy, though no bishops yet; that said, being trans is not a barrier to being elected.

It should be needless to say, but it is perhaps at this moment worth saying, that transgender individuals have the same right as anyone else to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
