The inside track on the creation of the ever-so-pretty (and substantially more useful) new Northern network map. Fascinating stuff. Designers are so clever.

Getting ready to ‘Azuma’ down to London with @lner.co.uk on a very special mission. But more to come on that later…

And now some classic French high speed travel with #SNCF #OuiGo from Lyon St Exupéry to Gare de Lyon - 260 miles in less than 2 hours non-stop. The power of #HighSpeedRail & a reminder of why we need #HS2 #TrainLife #YRT #France

#OnThisDay in 1987, the Bee Line Buzz Company started operations in deregulation era Manchester. Its little minibuses made a big impact, but competition was strong and it had disappeared from the region's streets within ten years.
A small minibus stands outside Manchester Victoria railway station. The bus is bright yellow, with a red roof, and on its bonnet there's a prominent cartoon of a bee. The station entrance is on the left just behind some taxis, and behind the minibus in the distance we see double decker buses in orange or green.

So pleased that I managed to get hold of a copy of the 1984 BR Passenger Timetable today, courtesy of @motgm.uk.

Beautiful use of linear two-point perspective and referenced in the excellent book by @doublearrow64.bsky.social, my copy even came with bookmark and pullout map!

#ThrowbackThursday this week takes us to #Rochdale, where a SELNEC bus is just arriving from the south. The windows in the roof are nice for soaking up the sun - not that one sees much of that in that part of the world! Looks like the lower panels would have benefited from a wash, too...
An orange and white 'Selnec' single decker bus drives through Rochdale town centre some time in the 1970s. There are smart flower beds to the left of the bus, and stone buildings in the background.

Nice! Wonder why some of them have yellow painted fronts though, and others don't?

To celebrate the kindness of 1000 BlueSkyers following these witherings, I’m sharing with you some pics of a surprise visit to London’s #DesignMuseum (after last weeks book launch) which encompass many subjects I post about like transit, telecommunications, typography and good old radio. Thanks all!

If you get on the Victoria Line you might find yourself in a special train carriage. TFL has collaborated with PlayStation installing a brand new PS5 moquette.

The design features a fun maze, encouraging passengers to play as they travel. The carriage will be available until Jan 7th

🚇 Bring back strap hanger advertising! 🚇

Cracking designs which were used on the Piccadilly line '1972 stock' trains in the 1990s - the Pepsi can is particularly delightful.
