So, this is me - working with intertidal rockweeds, mapping seagrass and kelp in the field and doing experiments in the NIVA mesocosm basins.
Thanks for paying attention. We have not species identified the “turf” in the aquarium. However, it looks much the same as the turf we have in the outdoor mesocosm basins, and everything outdoors belongs to Ectocarpus and Cladophora. So I have assumed Ectocarpus.
Hi Trine, have you checked which species this is, or are? My experience from aquaria is that it could also be colony forming diatoms, somtimes they look very much like Pylaiella or Ectocarpus-

Thanks for paying attention. We have not species identified the “turf” in the aquarium. However, it looks much the same as the turf we have in the outdoor mesocosm basins, and everything outdoors belongs to Ectocarpus and Cladophora. So I have assumed Ectocarpus.

Let me talk about dulse (Palmaria palmata) og a #PhycologyFriday This red algae grows along the coast in many countries. It’s easiest collected in the intertidal zone.
Dulse can be used in many ways – often dried, and as a slightly nutty flavour. Dulse contains protein, fat, and vitamin A.

Overgjødsling fra landbruket, gjerne transportert langveisfra via vann/vassdrag, gir overgjødsling av Oslofjorden. Som gir oppblomstring av lurv, fordi lurv er rask til å nyttiggjøre seg av all næringen. Gaven til ordførerne kan kanskje returnere til jordene som gjødsel, i sirkulæritetens navn?
Vi har lurv nok i Oslofjorden til å lage gaver til alle ordførerne innover langs vassdragene 💁♂️
Naturvernforbundet mener landbruket i Innlandet påvirker Oslofjorden
Naturvernforbundet mener mange kommuner i Innlandet løper fra ansvaret sitt. Nå reiser de rundt og gir «lurv» til ordførere.

Our new study assessed biodiversity associated with kelp farms in Norway using both eDNA and traditional methods. Results showed lower species richness and abundance in kelp farms compared to natural habitats.

Heldigvis er hovedårsaken til oppblomstring lurv en effekt av for nye næringssalter, selv om det også er styrt av temperatur og ubalanse i økosystemet (som tap av toppredatorer). Det betyr at vi kan ta grep, vi kan gjøre noe 💪🏼 Men det er synd å se at vi finner lurv så mange steder 😢
Det var et trist skue å snorkle rundt Færder i sommer. Lurv overalt. Også nedover hele Bohuslän-kysten. Håper det var en sjelden oppblomstring og uavhengig av Nitrogenmetning. Forøvrig bør mener jeg staten ta ansvaret for Oslofjorden og raskt.

Ja, vi ser nå store mengder lurv langs hele kysten, ikke bare i Oslofjorden. Så hele vår lange kyst overgjødsles, og Oslofjorden kan være en skremmende «trailer» på hva vi kan forvente hvis vi ikke tar grep.

Ja, vi ser nå store mengder lurv langs hele kysten, ikke bare i Oslofjorden. Så hele vår lange kyst overgjødsles, og Oslofjorden kan være en skremmende «trailer» på hva vi kan forvente hvis vi ikke tar grep.
