The absurdity of these protests magnifies the absurdity of what ICE is doing and it makes ICE look weak and frightened. Scared little boys coming out en masse to clear a road of half a dozen hippies donning inflata-furry armor. Bravo Portland. PNW wierd is a powerful counter to fascism? Apparently.

Battlefield is one of EA’s best game series. Far better than the dreck they have turned Madden and NBA 2k into. I was absolutely going to buy this game until the EA/Saudi/Kushner deal. They get no more pieces of silver from me.

Fair point. I don’t disagree. Mostly Im just wondering if there was some *other* thing that can be done with these empty skyscrapers because right now it feels like the immovable object (wanting full offices) is hitting the unstoppable force (no one wants to be in these buildings). And we are stuck.

Ok. So I’ll ask again what is the other offramp here? Full tear downs and rebuilds? There is no viable solution and clearly the RTO brainrot didn’t force enough companies back into office to bail them out.

So, then what’s the solution here? Just leave them empty until they go derelict? It’s a good faith question. The two paths here are “I’m losing millions because the bldg is empty” and “it’s too expensive to do anything else with this bldg.” What other option am I not seeing here?

I know it’s hard and expensive to convert or replace office space to anything else, but this push to bring back the hay day of office occupancy is just delaying the inevitable and costing the building owners millions in debt. The world has changed and those who accept that will be better off.

I hope some of this “pull back” comes with the self awareness that, perhaps, they do not know everything and that actual experts are crucial to functioning governance. And that they share that realization with the “did their own research” set. It’s ok to admit you don’t know something and need help.

Wealthy landowners are intrinsically against more housing because if homes aren’t scarce, their property values will decline. They use liberal talking points to get elected only to completely abandon the people. Bruce is a millionaire with a lakefront house. Guess where his allegiance lies?
