It is time for state and local governments to arrest masked officers who won’t produce warrants and who have no proof someone is undocumented.

Kidnappers should be arrested and indicted and tried for kidnapping and serve the many years such sentences carry.

Points out corporations in opposition to the Well Washington Fund received large tax cuts from the MAGA Big Billionaire Bill. Also notes the success of the Jumpstart tax in Seattle (which this is based on) as revenues from it continue to rise and economic activity increases.

Rep. Scott has a proposed amendment which would clarify which corporations would pay:

-Must employ >=250 people and >=$7
million in annual payroll.
-Excludes health care facilities, providers, hospital systems; school districts, local governments, quasi-municipal corporations, or state agencies.

UP NOW: @organizewithshaun.bsky.social's Well Washington Fund (HB 2100) is up for a public hearing in #WALeg!

This bill would fund higher education, health care, & housing by requiring the largest corporations to pay payroll tax on the highest salaries, like their employees already do.

Agree that B&O taxes on small biz is too high!

But I wouldn't use the millionaire's tax to fix it. We need that for basic services.

I'd do what we did here in Seattle - increase corporate taxes for big firms and lower them for smaller businesses.

Thanks to Alexis Mercedes Rinck on that one!
People here will hate me for saying it, but this is objectively good policy. Our B&O taxes on small businesses are way too high, and we (inexplicably) tax revenue instead of profits.
With a Millionaires' Tax that less than .5% of Washingtonians will pay, we can give small business owners the biggest tax break in state history.

Senator Manka Dhingra's "RECOURSE" bill is🔥.

It withholds state payments to the federal government equal to any federal funds illegally withheld from us.

Love this.

The report deeming an ICE detainee’s death in Texas a homicide comes the same day that a federal judge temporarily barred the deportation of two witnesses.

What's remarkable is not just that Trump is so loathsome and narcissistic that he doesn't care when an innocent woman is killed in a protest unless and until he finds out that her dad was a fan of his ... it's that he's so disregulated he *can't help but say so out loud*.
Trump: "ICE is gonna be too rough with somebody. They're gonna make a mistake sometimes. I felt horribly when I was told the young woman had the tragedy. But when I learned her father is - I hope he still is, but I don't know - was a tremendous Trump fan. It's terrible. It's so sad. It just happens"

One of the defining features of our political era is straightforward conservatives pretending to be ideologically complex.

Instead of absorbing this baldly obvious fact, this entire magazine is dedicated to repeating their own lie about themselves.
This man's entire job is to classify one-dimensional right-wing movements as far too complicated to place on the ideological spectrum.

Inspiring!

But I think going down to townhome zoning in a relative greenfield next to a light rail station should be ruled out. Height limits should minimally allow 5 to 8 stories. Add green space and limit lot coverage to create more livability.

Amazing bill! But...

the amendment applies in counties of 275,000 or greater. Basically a Medina/Clyde hill carveout.

Why did the House allow this shit? Do they believe the rich should get special treatment? The roll call wasn't close enough to justify the giveaway.

Take it back in the Senate.
The Washington House just approved HB 1175, which would legalize neighborhood corner stores & cafes statewide. The bill was sent directly to the House floor after being approved in committee last session.

A last minute amendment dropped suburbs with fewer than 5,000 people. The vote was 94-2.
