Woodstock Collegiate Institute recently celebrated the performance of its first musical revue “Time After Time”. On Jan. 9 @SouthRidgeTVDSB welcomed musician Julian Taylor!🎵 A Juno nominated artist of Black & Indigenous ancestry, Julian shared his powerful message about identity, community & peace. Students learned his song Seeds last year to honour National Day for Truth & Reconciliation.

After learning about Jumbo the elephant, students at Éva Circé-Côté FIPS worked to symbolically adopt an elephant & help conservation efforts through the World Wildlife Foundation. They succeed in raising enough to adopt both an elephant & a lion, their school mascot! #TVDSB

Teacher, abolitionist, and the first Black woman in North America to publish a newspaper, Mary Ann Shadd Cary opened a racially integrated school in Windsor and founded "The Provincial Freeman," which gave a voice to Black Canadians and called for an end to slavery.📰

The Developmental Education class at Parkside CI runs coffee cart where they collect orders from staff and deliver coffee, tea, and homemade treats. This is a wonderful learning opportunity that helps students build skills & spreads joy around the school!

This week's Nation Builder is Colonel the Honourable Lincoln Alexander, who broke barriers as Canada’s first Black MP in 1968, first Black federal cabinet minister in 1979, and Ontario’s first Black lieutenant governor in 1985. His legacy of human rights advocacy endures today.

Grade 4/5 students from Éva Circé-Côté had a great time at @ldnchildmuseum with @HeritageCouncil's London Museum School Program! They enjoyed exhibits, learned about sound & light waves & built their own acoustic panels, to be displayed in the museum’s Discovery Lab!

Each week, Stoneybrook kindergarten students head to the forest for play and learning, supported by their educators and enthusiastic volunteers from King’s University College. They take part in a variety of activities—building forts, sculpting clay, creating structures & tapping maple trees for sap!
