OH HELL YES.

She's a showgirl, which means she is asked, day in and day out, to perform, no matter whether or not she is on a stage. I very much think the life of a showgirl will reflect on what life looks like when the entire world becomes a stage, with nowhere to hide, and no room to fail.

The bigger your life, the broader the impact of every failure. The more you have, the more you have to lose. And Taylor has so much more than herself to lose, now. She could lose us, sure. But she could also lose her influence over the culture itself.

I am very much looking forward to seeing how she expands on her relationship with fame in this album, beyond Clara Bow and The Lucky One. I think she will explore the glory and spectacle of the highest of highs right alongside the devastating sacrifices of her lowest lows.

In becoming one of the most famous people in the world, Taylor made a Faustian bargain--a deal with the devil. She alone knows just what kind of personal, or even moral, compromises she may have had to make in order to achieve this level of success. Every sword has a double edge.

12) "The Life of a Showgirl."

And finally, the title track.

As I wrote earlier, I think this will encompass the themes of the whole album, ranging from the euphoria of her wildest dreams to the devastation of the sacrifices she has made to achieve them.

11) "Honey"

Again, I think this could go an infinite number of ways, from the simplest interpretation (a love being as sweet as honey) to the idea of being a "queen bee" as part of her showgirl persona, and being valued for the "honey" she rules over more than the person she is.

10) "CANCELLED"

Now this track needs very little speculation, but I am very interested to see if she will discuss how cancellation actually paradoxically INCREASES the intrigue of a star, and how scandal is almost a requirement of maintaining your relevance and influence.

9) "Wood"

Now this is a stretch. But if we're relating it to past concepts in her discography, I can see it is a play on Willow (is she no longer just swaying to someone else's wind?), or is this about her reputation ("they're burning all the witches.") Or is it about...wood.

Perhaps this is about the suspicion she has to bring to every interaction with any new person. Is this someone seeking genuine connection? Or is this someone who wants to gain from the association, to ride the coat-tails of her influence and fame until they no longer benefit?

8) "W$sh L$st"

This track gives me a very strong impression of the promised "showgirl" theme. I can see this as an ironic track, perhaps about what people expect from Taylor in friendships or relationships. By nature, she attracts so many grifters, out for whatever they can get.
