You’ve heard of a “locked room” mystery?

How about a locked shul mystery?

When a young scholar is found murdered inside a locked synagogue, it’s up to the town sherif to find the answer

My first novella!

A wonderful friend reached out to a best-selling author he knows to ask if they would be willing to blurb "Broken Faith"

Said author declined, as it was not their genre. However, they also gave the book such amazing feedback that I will be floating on for at least a week

This week for #shabbat we will be serving

- Good ol’ chicken soup
- Schnitzel fried chicken
- Potato Kugel from Monsey TakeOut (yum)
- Braised-beef cheek ragu over pasta or rice

I am hoping to have time to make a chocolate pie for dessert

What are you having?

"There is a teaching from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov that “there is nothing so whole as a broken heart.” It is not commentary; it is the emotional key. Sinai does not wait for the people to be ready. It does not wait for them to be healed."

My first book, an urban sf murder mystery, is coming out soon.

publisher has asked me if I can get any blurbs from any genre writers I know.

I’ve asked a few times to people I know but no luck. I’m making this public. Anyone in Sf/fantasy/comics have an interest in blurbing a novella?

Freya, the Itty Bitty Kitty, is exhausted after a long few days of knocking things off high shelves.

She has chased her bestie the robot vacuum, caught it, and is now napping on top of it

…I am so tempted to remote start it.

#bookshelf update: found another two boxes of Trek and Science Fiction. The Trek shelves are now two deep. If I adjust they will now take up at least 11 shelves

And I know I’m still missing boxes

"What would it mean to trust that today is enough?
What would it mean to stop running?
What would it mean to let a day end without bracing for the next blow?"

What software do my fellow book people use to track their collections?

Bonus points if it can be used for comic books too

Goal is to track what I have but also be able to make “wish lists” of what I am missing.

Hmm… nine shelves worth of Star Trek books?! That can’t be right!”

It’s not. There’s at least two boxes of Trek novels up in the attic

Whew.

Bookshelf saga update! The shelves have all been trimmed down to 77”.

t is the yartzheit (death anniversary) of my maternal grandfather. He’s the one who taught me how to use tools and to appreciate woodworking.

Seems like the perfect day to set aside some time and cut the reclaimed bookshelves to the correct size!

May his memory be a blessing.

This morning I heard a strange sound from the boy’s room. His door was open. I looked in to find Zuri on him, purring.

“Mine warm warm and mine. Mine mine WARM”

She may be enjoying his winter break more than he is

"The Torah describes a world trembling under the weight of upheaval. A society turning against its neighbors, a ruler whose fear curdles into cruelty, a people forcefully reminded of their status as “other.” That history is not distant."

TOTALLY normal way to pick the phone up

"Can I call you back? I'm hugging my wife."

(It was someone I'd been waiting for a call from but something more important came up. Clearly.)
