Okay here’s the actual existential threat to democracy. For months there’s been a lot of doom-mongering over the idea that voting is pointless. We need to shut this idea down now or those people will be right.
Trump: "These people were brought to our country to vote, & they vote illegally. The Republicans should say, we should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that I won that show I didn't win. You're gonna see something in Georgia"

Not an ICE post (fuck em) but CBP. A controlled border seems like a good thing to me. I don’t want smuggling. I don’t want trafficking. I don’t want spies from other countries putting drones everywhere. If someone wants to come here, I want to verify that they mean well. But…

Buttigieg on Fox News: "When you see an American woman opening the door to her home and on her doorstep finds half a dozen federal agents in tactical gear that is more tricked out than what I would take outside the wire in Afghanistan -- I think most people get that that is wrong."

I think dems made the right move by getting the DHS bill singled out. With the rest of the government funded, there’s no urgency to compromise - we can drag our feet indefinitely. Feels like leverage.

Proud of my wife today. She knows her customers will just go to Wegmans if she closes her small business tomorrow, so she’s staying open, telling her followers to stay home, and donating every dollar she makes to immigration groups in Minnesota. That’s meaningful solidarity.

What’s more likely?

(A) Alex Pretti brought a gun to a protest to shoot ICE agents but was too preoccupied with his phone to draw it before being subdued and killed.

(B) Alex Pretti brought a gun to a protest because a majority of mass shootings in the US are perpetrated by right-wing extremists.

I agree that actions have consequences.
Bovino: "When politicians, community leaders, & some journalists engage in that heated rhetoric we keep talking about, when they make the choice to vilify law enforcement calling law enforcement 'Gestapo' or using the term 'kidnapping,' that is a choice & there are actions & consequences."

The NBA saved us from COVID. Maybe they will save us from ICE.

I’m ready for the general strike if someone wants to go ahead and organize that.

For anyone remotely interested in geopolitics, this is worth a listen. Carney suggests that the dominoes have been falling for decades, but we all know that Greenland was the point of no return. This will be Trump’s most enduring legacy.
For decades, countries like Canada prospered under what we called the ‘rules-based international order.’

That order is not coming back, but from the fracture, we can build something better, stronger, and more just.

My local GOP put out a press release standing with ICE and calling on protesters to “respect the rule of law.” Meanwhile ICE is barging into homes without warrants in blatant violation of the law.

All year I’ve been saying that local politics and national politics are not the same, but I was wrong.

If you can’t hold your nose and vote against Trump in November, do something about it now.
We're coming up on primaries. If you feel like the candidates you have in general elections do not represent you, now is the time to get involved.

I don't want to hear anyone who didn't support a primary campaign complaining in November about their options.

Seriously go look up who's running now.

I’m starting to think that the Greenland thing is a distraction. We already have a military base there. If we wanted more, all we had to do was ask. If we wanted to buy their minerals, that was always an option. None of this makes any sense.

Abolish ICE and impeach DHS/DOJ leadership.

Did Bluesky change the discover feed or are we getting astroturfed by some huge coordinated “sit out the midterms” campaign? I’m on here every day and I’ve never seen anything like this.

At this point we should assume that every statement from DHS is a lie. When they say domestic terrorist, assume peaceful protestor. When they say protestor, assume random people driving home from work. When they say ”worst of the worst,” assume naturalized citizen with no criminal record.
DELETED

After lying about this baby they gassed and almost killed in their own neighborhood, DHS deleted their post

If Jonathan Ross had a bruise we would have seen a picture of it. You can’t get hit by a car and suffer internal bleeding without having a bruise. More lies.

Just want to go on record saying I’m fine with America (preferably through the UN) doing what they can to help Iranian protestors. France came to our aid when we had our revolution, and we should pay that forward.

Fuck ICE.

I’m gonna learn Spanish just to fuck with ICE.

If Trump really believes that all these protesters are being paid by billionaire activists then why doesn’t he just tax them?

NEW: Data released by ICE shows that virtually the entire growth of detention in the last few months has been among people with no criminal record at all - no prior convictions (no matter how minor) and no pending criminal charges.

They could have said “we are waiting for the facts and putting this agent on administrative leave pending the results of a full and complete investigation” but instead they called her a domestic terrorist.

“and others”
JD Vance: "I believe we're gonna have some very big announcements in the next couple of days. I don't want to get ahead of the president, but we believe there is a nationwide fraud ring that's rooted in illegal aliens and others taking advantage of the American welfare system."

Every second the murderer is not arrested is another second for feds to hide him in a place that would create a jurisdictional fight. He's on video killing a person. You have to arrest this guy an hour ago, but you might still have time now.

Do people usually turn to avoid hitting someone if their intent is to run them over? Why is her wheel facing the other way? Is there some other video that Trump and Noem were shown by mistake?
