i'll always remember watching this movie at a big public showing on the beach and a couple people standing up for the national anthem that plays in the intro before i hollered at em that it was just part of the movie.

they were really onto something special with disgaea 2 artwork i feel, this was featured in the game and would show up randomly in the clear screen background after finishing a map. everyone is almost always sweaty or crying.

made a handy chart of how to navigate the disgaea character selection menu (any entry)

a large list of disgaea characters with brackets sectioning them off
small top bracket: all the characters you'll ever actually use
huge middle bracket: massive pit of pain and despair
small bottom bracket: units used to throw

i understand everyone (and even NIS in the latest entries) see Disgaea as the funny big number game but the best parts of those games is punching way above your weight with some strategy that has no right working as well as it does. unraveling the puzzle to get big number efficiently is also fun.

before i went to the hospital due to: Dying, i had put a hideous amount of time in that Fantasy Life game. 105 hours. wondering if i'd be able to acclimate myself to going back to a save that old. on the other hand i have a strong desire to get sucked in another NIS game so maybe i'll just do that.

i always wanted to live in a place i could get daily bread cause i just know i'd be tearing up all kinds of different loaves and buns every day. sucks when you gotta get all the preservative heavy stuff just so you can make it through a week or two until you can shop again.

my only contribution other than all my factually correct opinions about dungeon crawlers is i want to make one just called Blobber where you are a slime given sentience at the bottom of a conquered dungeon and you wield adventurer corpses on your tendrils like equipment.

king's field is a fucking masterpiece because you spend the first 40 minutes circle strafing snails and then the game throws a skeleton at you that promptly walks onto a pressure plate and falls into a pit and you go "oh fuck, a devious trap"

i don't need to make suffering a kind of competition but knowing the stuff i weathered and continue to being simply not that big of deal for me makes me feel better. wresting back some kind power in the face of my agonies.

it sounds cheesy as fuck but having so much shit jabbed and sliced and packed and torn up in the hospital really has made me much more appreciative how incredibly pain tolerant i am. i'm apparently god's perfect patient which isn't a title i want to hold but it sure makes the nurses' jobs easier.
