While hospitals are happy to spend $100M+ on travel nurses - they refuse to give NYC nurses a fair contract, safe staffing AND the respect they deserve.

We stand with our labor allies - and could not agree more with @newyorkstateag.bsky.social. #SafeStaffingSavesLives

(1/2) The @uft.org is proud to support policies that advance universal childcare across our city & state.

Plans from @governor.ny.gov & @mayor.nyc.gov will help keep families in NYC & offer thousands of parents a critical financial relief.

Let’s get it done!

“The nurses of this city have been to hell and back over the last six years.

You got us through COVID, you sacrificed often at enormous personal cost and over the years you have cared for us [...]

The least you deserve now is a fair contract!” - @nyccomptroller.bsky.social

@mayor.nyc.gov is right: Healthcare executives shouldn’t make millions while the nurses they employ struggle with excessive workloads and unsafe workplace conditions.

The United Federation of Nurses/ @uft.org stands in solidarity with NYSNA in this fight. #UnionStrong

These 3 labor & delivery nurses bring life into the world every day.

Mount Sinai fired them hours before the current nurses strike. No investigation, no due process, just retaliation.

This is how hospital execs treat the people who deliver your children.

(1/2) How much are CEOs at leading hospitals raking in?

Montefiore: $16 million
Mount Sinai: $10 million
NYC-Presbyterian: $26 million

Now they're on TV lying about nurses wanting "40% raises" and "protecting drunk workers."

"Five days ago, I stood together with Mayor Mamdani to announce that the state will fully fund the first two years of universal Two-Care, while also helping New York City realize the full promise of 3-K. We made that commitment and we'll keep it." - @governor.ny.gov
January 14, 2026 at 6:34 PM
(1/2) @governor.ny.gov is right. NYS’s cell phone ban in classrooms improved educational environments and is a testament to how policy decisions can improve the lives of our educators & students.
January 14, 2026 at 3:34 PM
"I want New York to be the number one place for anyone to start a family & build their future right here. When we do that, we all win. Our classrooms are fuller, our communities are richer in every sense of the word." - @governor.ny.gov

Couldn’t agree more - let’s make it happen!

As a parent, UFT VP of Elementary Schools Karen Alford knows that the price of childcare in NYC is prohibitive for working families.

Parents need our leaders in Albany to make universal childcare a reality - so we can all afford to raise our families in NY.

Our VP of Elementary Schools, Karen Alford, spoke in solidarity with working families in calling to pass universal childcare.

Reducing the cost of childcare is key to addressing the affordability crisis and uplifting families statewide.

BREAKING: Today, NYSNA nurses at 12 NYC private sector hospitals and 3 Long Island Northwell Health hospitals delivered 10-day notices to strike. NYSNA will continue to bargain between now and January 12th in the hopes of reaching agreements.

Since NYS implemented a cell phone ban in public schools, NYC students feel more connected and engaged with their peers.

We fight for policies like these to enrich our school communities & ensure our educators and students can learn and thrive.

This agenda you speak of is great. But right now, you are ignoring paraprofessionals – most of whom come from these “historically overlooked communities” you claim to serve.

Make this right and support the #RESPECTCheck, Speaker Adams!
Today, I sat down with Dan Mannarino to talk about how New York City Council has provided steady leadership and results for New Yorkers over the last four years, while advancing an agenda that supports historically overlooked communities.
