New analysis of 1960s land use maps, many created by schoolchildren and students, reveals fresh insights on the timing and extent of habitat losses caused by post-war agricultural intensification and urban growth in England and Wales.

The Copernicus Sentinel-6B satellite has successfully launched and is now in orbit, monitoring global sea levels from space. 🛰️

It will measure sea surface height and wind speeds to improve weather forecasts and climate predictions. 🌍

Latest Hydrological Outlook: November river flows likely normal to above normal in northern and western UK; normal to below normal in central, southern & eastern England, plus eastern Scotland.

Groundwater levels mostly normal to below normal across the UK. This pattern likely to persist Nov-Jan.

Long-term monitoring tells a story of change. For 80 years scientists have monitored Windermere and nearby lakes in Cumbria, tracking how climate change and pollution are reshaping our freshwater ecosystems.

It’s one of the longest lake datasets anywhere in the world! 🌎
