🍻 Great to see our work with @ukhospitality.bsky.social highlighted at the first #PMQs of the season!

With the #AutumnBudget coming up on Nov 26, we’re urging the government to:
- Cut beer duty
- Ease employment costs
- Reform business rates

Time to back our pubs and brewers across the UK.
"Why is it that a cafe is paying more tax than a big bank? That's ridiculous."

The tax burden on hospitality is unfair and causing businesses to be #TaxedOut.

On BBC Breakfast, our CEO Allen Simpson emphasised the need to lower business rates, fix NICs and cut VAT.
10,963 hospitality jobs have been lost in the last month ‼️

Over 100,000 hospitality jobs are now projected to be lost by the Budget, 13 months on from the previous Budget that hit hospitality with £3.4 billion of additional costs.

The 2024 Budget was a hammer blow to hospitality.

In the eight months since, hospitality has lost 84,000 jobs – three times that seen in the wider economy.

That’s a massive change. In the same time the previous year we created 18,000 new jobs. #TaxedOut

Last year, hospitality was creating thousands of jobs.

But since the Budget we’ve been losing them.

We need change, before we are #TaxedOut.

It will not surprise you that hospitality sector is almost twice as important to our constituency that the average of the other 649 constituencies, with almost 9,000 employees in 2,185 establishments. Glad to support calls to support and help this sector in Parliament with @ukhospitality.bsky.social

This afternoon Peter Bedford MP led a Westminster Hall debate on the impact of the VAT registration threshold on SMEs.

Peter reiterated our call for a cut of VAT to 12.5% for the hospitality sector to keep prices down, support the high street and benefit customers.
