Ixodes scapularis, aka the "blacklegged #tick" or "deer tick", can carry bacteria, viruses, and even other #parasites that infect humans - including, most notoriously, #LymeDisease.

These #ticks can be ID'd by the crescent of reddish brown at the posterior end of their body.

#Science #research isn't easy, especially when there's a wet-lab involved - there's just so much that can go wrong! What's more, some mistakes technically do count as #misconduct irrespective of the researcher's intent.

Luckily, there are steps you take take to avoid this.
Check it out:

Do animals blink to the beat, too?

It wouldn't be surprising if pet animals do - they've been putting up with human music for as long as we've been around to domesticate them, and could have co-evolved some kind of "rhythm processing" too.

Not all scientific misconduct is intentional!

Sometimes it can be accidental - especially when it comes to wet lab work, which is fraught with both technical & practical challenges.

It's also advisable to keep records of all original images, no matter how ugly, as proof of past work.

I'd imagine internal bodily rhythms also influence #parasite infections, as well.

A wise scientist once told me, "It's all about the timing." #Parasites are masters of timing, changing their morphology or location depending on their life cycle stage.

Not all scientific misconduct is intentional!
Sometimes it can be accidental - mixing up labels, using the wrong cell line or expired materials, failing to establish a file-naming scheme, etc. Most accidents boil down to a lack of #standardization, which is surprisingly common in science #research.
Researchers,

Misconduct can be unintentional

It could be a mistake on the bench (or in the office)

I.e., it's avoidable

We created a series around this topic
