@classicstober.bsky.social #ClassicsTober25 Day 10: Hecate. She was often shown holding torches, a key, or snakes, or accompanied by dogs, and later depicted as three-formed or triple-bodied. She is associated with crossroads, night, light, magic, witchcraft, drugs, and the Moon. #ClassicsTober

Day 5 of #ClassicsTober25: Hermes Psychopompos. This stunning pottery painting is from an Anatolian grave. It is a white-ground cup from the eastern cemetery of Daskyleion in a Persian satrapal center. It dates to the late fifth century BC. #ClassicsTober

Don't jump on the couch!
Sign at the site of ancient Thorikos, Greece. Yellow attention triangle above a round red/white/black sign that looks like a human standing on a crossed out couch.

The week just started, and we already need a timeline cleanse....

A #Roman pot with ears and a funny little face (it looks like Shaun the Sheep). Found in a burial in the necropolis of Giubiasco, Switzerland 2nd century AD.

I am teaching New Age spirituality this week, so I went through some old photos on my camera and found this perfect conversation starter.
Photo from "Alternativmessen" 2024. Tondo depicting female angel holding a light, set in a dream catcher like frame decorated with white, light brown and pastel purple feathers. Lighted from behind by a Christmas tree light chain.

Question for Bible scholars: who is 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 interpreted as being about? I don't study this at all so I'm interested in the whole range of interpretations. Is it the devil? Have there been historical figures connected to this passage?
