Yay #PortfolioDay!

Hi all, I’m Vanessa, a freelance concept artist and illustrator who loves all things fantasy! I’m currently taking commissions and am also available for contract work 😄

Commissions: vandambach.carrd.com
Portfolio: artstation.com/vandambach
📧 [email protected]
A turn around character sheet of a young girl in green overalls. In one rendered elevation she’s holding a glowing magical bug catching net. A series of exploration sketches of a girl who has been magically enhanced by different elemental fairy magics. A blue skinned and silver haired elf wearing translucent blue/teal robes steps out of a swirling portal of magic with a galaxy of stars visible behind her. A design of Caduceus Clay that resembles a fantastical creature seen in the Dark Crystal. He stands in a mossy graveyard, dappled with warm sunlight.

And then I just…. doodle more WIPs….
vandambach.bsky.social
The problem with having literally hundreds of WIP sketches is that I can never choose which one to work on when I have spare time for personal art ( ._. )

Thank you! I’m especially glad that the tattoos look right, it was a challenge to make them look part of the skin and not seperate.

Here’s some detail shots, there’s a lot going on in this one

Another commission for @astralnotations.bsky.social of their sunshine boi Quinn!
Two side by side paintings of the same character, one in a humanoid form playing a lyre, and the second in his angel form. Both paintings are framed by sunshine and flowers.

Might be cause I logged just waaaaay too many hours over the last few days haha

I clocked it when she started going ‘Blast!’ and I just had Hades’ gravelly voice echoing in my head 😂 I love how much Zag looks like his dad and acts like his mum, and Mel is totally the vice versa of that
vandambach.bsky.social
Thanks! I love this broody gal, she’s just like her pops ( ꈍᴗꈍ )
vandambach.bsky.social
I lost the battle with my adhd and binged #Hades2 all weekend, so I did a lil doodle of Melinoë to try and get back into the art groove today as a compromise with myself lol
A rough sketch in green on a grey background of Melinoe glaring at the camera while gently brushing a lock of stray hair behind her ear

Love love LOVE the designs, they’re so adorable

Biting and clawing at art funk by drawing my girls
Sketch drawing of two dnd characters sitting next to each other; One is a moon elf with long curly hair blushing and giggling. The other is a tiefling with short hair looking at the other girl.... Also there is a random doodle of me venting about my art block in the corner ignore that I have a habit of drawing reaction doodles next to anything I draw.

Another #commission from a few months back. Got this one in the middle of winter while playing a lot of Skyrim, which I think was a wonderful coincidence ❄️
A halfling woman with her hair in two long braids, wearing a thick fur cloak reaches out her hand for a tiny owl familiar to land on. She stands amid a snow covered forest landscape.

Hell yeah that’s the highest compliment, exactly what I was going for 💪 also I just realised maybe I should have put a cw: trypophobia warning on this 🤔

Thanks, glad to be back!

Ay, me too, mutual hiatus breaking time! We can welcome each other back haha

She’s giving ‘I phased out of a wall in the underdark to show you my favourite terrarium’ energy 🌳🍄
A portrait painting of a beautiful yet horrifying woman made of mushrooms, plants and insect parts. She’s gently cradling a glass bell terrarium with a small bonsai tree inside that is glowing with golden light.

Sometime you just have to sit back, and make a lineup of all the DnD characters you've made over the years.

...and sometimes that lineup is actually a redraw of a lineup you did years ago but never posted but was filled with the urge to redraw because old
A line up of fantasy characters in a cartoonish style. From left to right: a tall dark grey skinned character with long black hair and yellow eyes wearing ragged green skirts; a purple tiefling with a wicked grin holding a bomb with a lit fuse; a relaxed zombie in ripped clothes slouching casually; a pale green tiefling with horns covered in thorns and a scorpion tail and large pink hair with a black streak. A line up of fantasy characters in a cartoonish style. From left to right: a small kobold with giant googles and a judgemental glare; a fish woman with deep blue scales on tan skin, a wide red grin with jazz hands; a confused man with a green work apron, ripped sleeves, and bandaged arms; a tired looking drow with fish scale armour; and a small little mushroom man with big orange eyes. A line up of fantasy characters in a cartoonish style. From left to right: a moon elf with bright grey eyes, a crescent moon marking on her forehead, and long fluffy natural hair; a muddy, scrungly, looking man with messy teeth and a scar on his forehead; a large triton with ripped fins, a long grey cloak, a scar across her bright blue eye, who has a little creature with a tiny shovel riding on her shoulder; A green goblin on the heavy size with big orange eyes, gesturing at an orange butterfly.

So true, staying aware is important but it's equally important to set personal boundaries around how much our brains can handle. Take breaks and take care of your mental health!

Idk how to keep telling ppl that the problem isn't just Ai art. It is capitalism. The problem is and continues to be capitalism.

Support artists, fight Ai, and also remember the beast from which it spawned.
