thanks to youtube's increasing enshittification of the platform videos don't load without reloading the page of a couple times if you have firefox's enhanced tracking protection on, and it otherwise spams get requests several times a second, causing you to get rate limited

Alright, now it's up!

Still a little wonky on those shadows, but I think doing depth a little better (now that I understand it more) would probably just resolve that. I don't think I need to do all the screen reading I'm doing here. Despite it, it's still fairly efficient.

switched over to windows to play apex since the new season launched today..

steam was signed out because i recently set up 2fa, it would not show me the login request to confirm, so i tried to login via a code. still nothing.

i reopened the steam app and got a bunch of now invalid login requests

It now supports dynamic shadows as well as lights!

I... think this is as far as I can take it I can't immediately think of anything else to add here. Any other fanciness can be done in godot as-is with existing stuff, it'll interact with lights and shadows, as well as anything depth drawn.

after a whole lot of math and suffering through shaders i've updated the voxel space renderer i made in #godot to use world projection and 3D scene passthrough

credit to @caaz.me for cracking a lot of this before i did, i riffed off of some of his code with my own attempted improvements

god dammit now i actually want to do this..

the brackey's jam is coming up soon, maybe i can experiment with it for that 😅
if there was an easy way to handle collisions this would be great for a game like armored fist 2 with 3d meshes over a voxel space terrain

i guess the easiest way would be just to cheat and make a custom collision shape that samples the source height texture

got bored, made a voxel space renderer in #godot using a canvasitem shader and a basic player controller in gdscript

ported from the code examples given in github.com/s-macke/Voxe...

mostly as a "tech demo" but it could be interesting to make a game with

After all of this research I have a new idea for the weapon overhaul that I've had planned

Except its gonna be a pain in the ass to implement

Everything would hopefully be modular and procedurally animated in one way or another
