Male monarch butterfly wings have thinner veins and a distinctive black spot. Females have thicker veins with no spot. This pretty lady dangles from her bedchamber and will probably flutter away soon in this nice warm sun.

The butterfly hangs from the now clear and empty chrysalis. It’s a bit damp and swollen which is normal.

Everyone knows about Groundhog Day but central #pennsylvania real ones know Goose Day, Sept 29. Lucky Friday tonight in Lewistown was excellent. Most activities free, local vendors, music, free parking, drone show in the park. On Monday Eat Goose, Get Luck!

I suffer from migraines (which I say w/ awareness of how "suffer from" can be misused w/ certain diagnoses--I assure you I suffer from them) & Tylenol was the only pain relief my OB wd recommend during my pregnancies. That and the $800 bag of ER saline (thx for nothing) I got during the worst one.

It's only September but this might be the best book I will read in 2025. Chain Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adejei-Brenyah. Unputdownable, not predictable, biting social commentary, great characters.
