Here's my unboxing and review of Beyond Shadowgate for the PC!
(Note that this is not the same as the 1993 Turbo Grafx CD game of the same name.)
It's a sequel to the NES version, and looks and plays just like it!
Check it out here:

Hallowe'en post #9:
As explained in The NES Endings Compendium - Vol. 1: 1985-89 (which I reviewed here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH6s... ), there are three endings to Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (NES) that are dependent on how fast you beat it, but the endings seem to be mixed up.

1 hour and 45 minutes left!
Let's see the point-and-click comedy fantasy adventure game, Broken Relic, hit the next stretch goal to come to the Switch!
Nothing left to wait for - support it now if you haven't already! Maybe pledge to be an NPC in this game?

12 hours to go now!
Still not at £20,000, WTF.
Will this get to £25,000 in time?
Come on!
vgmaps.bsky.social
Less than 15 hours!

It's weird that it keeps creeping closer to £20k but each time the increments seem to be smaller.

I hope £20k isn't like some limit in calculus, where you can get as close as you like but never reach it...

And I would really like to see it at £25k, come on!

The Asssassin's Creed game that was cancelled because someone had a problem with fighting the KKK... like, what's the problem?
There are hundreds of games where you fight Nazis.
If someone thinks a game about fighting against evil racists is problematic, then... aren't they the one with the problem?

Accidentally deleted this:
I said that I thought it was ballsy that the scene at 28:35 was included in BioShock Infinite.
(It's obvious you should throw the stone at the announcer, not the couple.)
But then I thought, why is it wrong to show racism is evil in a game?

Even before that, the only issues I've had in the theatre were just technical.
The projector burned out during Titanic and Spider-Man: No Way Home (multiple times, all climactic moments), which is funny in a way (we all got vouchers for another movie) but those aren't related to people's behaviour.

In the past few years, almost every movie I see is in 4DX (motion seats, atmospheric FX), since movies now come to digital less than two months (sometimes one!) after theatrical debut, so why not get the full experience when I do go to the movies?
People don't mess around at $30 (Can) per ticket.

Not to dismiss Marina McBain's experience, but I've never had a bad experience due to others' behaviour in a movie theatre, in the decades that I've gone, multiple times a year.
Am I just lucky, or do Canadians have better movie etiquette than the rest of the world?

The point-and-click adventure game, Broken Relic, has ONE day left on Kickstarter (25½ hours, really).

It's close to the £20k stretch goal that will bring it to iOS & Android, but can it get to £25k for a Nintendo Switch port?

Don't delay, pledge today!

Hallowe'en post #8:
Speaking of Ghosts 'N Goblins, I don't get why the box of the NES version says "Ghost 'N Goblins". Why only a single ghost? Or are the goblins "ghosting" you?
Is this better or worse than "The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout" losing the word "Birthday" in Europe?

Thanks to Aida, Colin, Jason (x3), Daniel/Morgan (Videogamerepairs.ca), Andrew/Chris (CVGC), Rob McCallum (director) & Jay Bartlett (star), the Garneau staff, the sponsors, and all my friends that showed up (and won the draw prizes a disproportionate amount, which was funny).

It is the highest-profile local event I organized & hosted (with Rob) and it reawakened an interest in retrogaming, which then led to my "JonLeung1" YouTube channel. To some, this may "just" be a film, but it boosted my confidence and changed my life.

10 years ago today, I booked the Garneau Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta, to present two theatrical screenings of Rob McCallum's "#NintendoQuest" film about Jay Bartlett's attempt to collect all of the NES games within one month.

Hallowe'en post #7:
In Mega Man 7, if you hold down the B button when selecting Shade Man's stage (if you haven't defeated him yet), instead of the normal Shade Man stage music, you get music from another Capcom game, Ghosts 'N Goblins.

Armadillo.
Good game, from what I remember.
I recall my dad borrowing, for my brother and me, a hacked copy of this game that is billed as a Super Mario sequel. Even at that age, we knew something was up, that it couldn't have been a legit Mario game. But we still enjoyed it for what it is.

That seems cruel. Do they feel pain?
And people call me weird for watching videos of others having extreme leg cramps. 🤨

Despite supposedly being advanced humanoid robots capable of all sorts of tasks, in actuality their AI is so basic that they're just a few lines of code at most to fit in a NES cartridge with limited size, usually a few hundred kB, which also has to define the whole world they exist in.

Today's Hallowe'en post:
My brother discovered this back in the day. In Mega Man 4, Skull Man doesn't move unless Mega Man moves. Isn't it weird that Dr. Cossack designed him (as opposed to the skull-obsessed Dr. Wily) and that Skull Man isn't a "special" Robot Master like Proto/Dark/Fake Man?
