Expecting it to be canon asks too much of the park attendees.
The whole roleplaying aspect of the Galactic Starcruiser (the hotel) might have been fun for hardcore fans that were happy to LARP, but it would have been successful if it was just a Star Wars-themed hotel for families and casual fans.
