New intro post!

I'm Vicktaru, born in '82 and lived in NYC and Tampa. I love gaming and reading and have been doing both since a young child. I also play and GM TTRPGs, and sometimes I pretend like I'm a decent author. I'd love to learn to draw, but need to find the time. Dad and husband.

It's crazy to me how expensive life can get. You look at your bank account and everything is just gone in the blink of an eye.

I make pretty good money too. I know people are struggling out there.

Sometimes you just need to be around people.
Gail's writing is almost as good as her shit posting. 🤣
Oh yeah, it's a great rewatch for wifey and I, and kiddo is having a blast with it. The action scenes hit and he says That was so satisfying!
Okay, after the reveal it's not close enough to be allegorical perhaps, but the two caste of people with one of them being sub human still leaves a lot to this thematically.

Also, damn, that was the most menacing take on a fucking Cypress Hill song I've ever heard in my life.
Current running hypothesis (after the we're Americans and the handcuffs) is that Us is a slavery allegory and there's an entire second population of unknown, unseen people that toil away in some way to make the American way of life possible.
Really early, and I know it's mirror copies, but in terms of vibe checks Us is giving me serious The Strangers vibes right now.

Also, Jordan Peele, fucking key under the rock? 🤣
Damn, I think it's being a dad for so long now, but I was on the verge of bawling my eyes out during Yondu's funeral in Guardians Vol 2. We're getting deep into my showing the kiddo the Infinity War MCU films.
didn't want to be in their way while they were working, taking care of my wife. Once it was clear I was good they told me I could be by her and they'd be okay going around me. 🤣
I don't like getting in people's way when they're working. So when my wife was delivering her baby and the doctors and nurses started swarming her I stepped away and sat in a nearby chair. I guess fainting dads is a thing, because I was asked if I was okay. 😅 I told them I was fine and just
True story, the English teacher I had the next year also had this policy. She was warned about me going in and when we started that next school year the teacher put a limit on the number of extra credit book reports. 😅
I love reading, and when I was a teenager I was a voracious reader. One year in high school the teacher allowed infinite extra credit for voluntary book reports. I turned in so many she pulled me aside and told me she wasn't calculating all of it, and that I'd get a B (I skipped a lot of homework).

My friend Ronn and I used to do ridiculous audio recordings of ourselves creating little skits. We have a ton of in jokes from that time period including:

Holy matrimony Batman, I think that game was rigged!

And

I can't believe it's not bum rush!
Love me some hot choco!
Bad call, the Bush era recession hit and it took me half a year to find work.

After my last job I was so stressed I was leaking cortisol into my eye, making my vision fuzzy. I had a strong savings, quit, and took 5 months off of work before starting my current job. I did do a little part time work.
I started working at 14 years old and I've only had 3 breaks during that time period.

I once took 3 months off of working while I was in college, living off of scholarship money.

I quit a job once while I had multiple interviews lined up. This was agreed on by my wife and I.
my dad, who grew up in South Bronx. So I became a Yankees fan from Flushing. I could never hate the Mets though, and I still hope to see them win a World Series as I was 3 when the Mets last won, starting the Red Sox "curse" era.
When I was a child I lived in Flushing, Queens near Shea Stadium. I'd sometimes go to Mets games with my cousin when the Padres were in town (his team). I could have easily been a life long Mets fan, but I moved to Florida as a teenager, and started watching the Yankees 90s-early 2000s dynasty with
When I was in college one of my former classmates was acting as an intern teaching at our old high school and met one of my younger brothers. That led to us reconnecting, which lead to me meeting some of her college friends. This string of coincidences led to me meeting my wife.
My mom's family, as far back as I know, is Puerto Rican. My dad's family, as far back as I know, is Puerto Rican. My last name is not Spanish. I've found it in Italian heraldry books. I'm assuming I have Italian paternal ancestry many generations back that had continuous sons to keep the last name.
And the boat story was just me being a competitive idiot. My brain did not put together that the boat would drag me under, just that I would not easily lose my grip when competing over who could hold the rope the longest. Fortunately the person driving the boat realized what was happening.
