To my fellow university teachers: We have recently experienced a noticeable increase in hostility from students towards us teachers/admins, a drop in physical presence in class, and quite a substantial drop in exam performance, particularly at the BA level. Does anyone else see similar trends?

When you give your unsolicited opinion, in German you give your "mustard" (yummy?), in French your "grain of salt" (without your opinion it was too bland) and in English your "two cents" (how generous!). In Spanish, however, you'll be asked: "Who gave you a candle at the funeral? Languages are fun!

For anyone who's been watching the Netflix series Nautilus and is wondering about the weird language the guy with the beard speaks, it's a #conlang (called Kita Til) I made for the series based on a (totally made up) creolization of a bunch of putatively relevant languages. #nautilus #linguistics
