The premise behind arguments I have seen is that victims don't get due process. This was also the premise behind the stunt in the WH briefing room this past week. This premise is collective punishment for being an existential threat, the same premise behind genocides and other mass atrocities.
"Come back when you're ready for peace" is how one talks to an adversary when winning a war, not to an ally that needs out help from an unjust invasion.
The use of language: they are calling spending that they don't agree with "corruption", they call giving info access to a billionaire who cherry picks data and makes up conspiracy stories about them "transparency" and they call the rule of law a "coup"
Possible unexpected side effect of Citizens United: if corporations are people and money is speech, Trump can't penalize (through say punitive endowment taxes) private entities from supporting DEI without violating free speech.
2/2 This combination, called stagflation, is extremely difficult to get out of. Last time we experienced this was in the 70s and early 80s, and it was an economic catastrophe that is severely understated in our understanding of economic history.
1/2 Trump's tariff and immigration policies are going to lead to high inflation while what he is doing to the federal government (and fund recipients) is going to lead to high employment and low economic growth.
The point is harassment- make them shell out law and PR firm fees and tie up their time.
Since we have laws against tortious interference with contracts, maybe we can make laws against tortious interference of the 1st Amendment (or human rights more generally)
