"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

Now you understand the difference between Rittenhouse and Pretti.

I wish that all of the technology we use didn't depend on child slavery and war zone conflict metals and wasn't assembled under remarkably abysmal working conditions. It doesn't have to be this way, but companies don't care because they have to compete with other companies that do this to save money

my CompSci 101 teacher is using generative AI to create all of our study and reference materials lmao. at least I have a book written by people who know about this to follow along with that has correct information so I can just use that to basically know what is actually expected of me

someone in a nail polish subreddit created a shade that matches the one in this photo and is selling it on etsy so she can afford to buy her boyfriend a bulletproof vest to wear while doing ICE watch at home depot. we live in hell but we are going to fucking win.

if I could time travel, I would tell all of the revolutionary organizations and coalitions in the 60s affected by COINTELPRO about how exactly that would go down, then play the stock market to bankroll them. Hopefully when I go back to the future, the USA would not exist lol

How to stay on top of emails:
1. Sort into: emails to discard, emails to do right away, or emails to do later. Could be mental or could use tags/flags/labels in your email client.
2. Discard items in 1st
3. Do things in 2nd next time you have a moment
4. Mark items 3rd for follow-up & do them later

You can look up the area codes you get random texts from and pretend to be a communist party recruiter in their area btw. Most Americans will stop responding.

was curious if 128bit architecture could be possible/viable and I went down a rabbit hole where I learned that the theoretical limit for how much physical RAM Linux can support is 128 TB, or 131,072 GB. So I guess we're good on 64bit for a while now lol

I am much more sympathetic to the people whose homes were destroyed, villages/cities/countries uprooted and destabilized, lives shattered, and were killed by the US military than the hypothetical poor 18 year old USian that supposedly didn't have any other option.

Excel is the best software Microsoft has ever made. Almost every other thing has a better alternative or just sucks, Excel genuinely inspires wonder in me with each new feature I learn. Wish the programming syntax was a bit less ugly, but thats kind of a general Microsoft complaint lol

My remote CS111 Computer Operations professor does in-class assignments that are time-sensitive. She gave us one that required more writing due a half hour after class ended. I finish it 1 minute before the deadline. I go to submit it and the window closes while the document is uploading. kms

Really good retrospective article about Jef Raskin, who was one of the designers at Apple from the San Francisco 60s counter-culture scene that pushed for computers, operating systems, and programs to be designed for humans rather than technical specifications. systemstack.dev/2025/09/huma...

my favorite response to people asking why I don't use LLMs for writing or summarizing a topic is "I prefer to do my own thinking" and it usually results in an awkward but fertile silence and a change of subject lol

reminding myself that working full-time, going to school full-time, and still having hobbies and interests is an insane thing to do that most people couldn't keep up with so I should allow myself to do things like get 8 hours of sleep or not constantly be working and allow myself to chill sometimes

Might be at a level in my computer knowledge where introductory computer science classes are confusing because I can't really think of things in simplified or vague terms unfortunately because I know a lot more than most 101 students seem to about this stuff
