I lov computer
I still see it every now and then unfortunately and also one of my professors is using it a ton for creating slides and study materials. Makes me feel crazy because it creates diagrams like this which show that binary is 1s and 1s

I typed that last post badly then edited it badly so it looks garbled up but here are some pics. Not including alt text because I literally don't know how to explain what I'm looking at with words but it's just like inaccurate graphics with incorrect or inconsistent labels

You can look up the area codes you get random texts from and pretend to be a communist party recruiter in their area btw. Most Americans will stop responding.

Really good retrospective article about Jef Raskin, who was one of the designers at Apple from the San Francisco 60s counter-culture scene that pushed for computers, operating systems, and programs to be designed for humans rather than technical specifications. systemstack.dev/2025/09/huma...

Quite tired of seeing articles like this (everybody go update Google Chrome, new zero-day security vulnerability just dropped)

My monospace font Consolena is out. It has semi-condensed and ligature variants and is based on Iosevka.

Normal behavior to have a favorite transitional serif typeface at 18 lol.To be fair, it low-key is the best free/open source/permissively licensed Times New Roman alternative.

When I was 18 I got a semi-colon tattoo because it was trendy on tumblr and I regretted it for many years until I’ve recently decided that it’s actually now a typography and programming tattoo so it’s fine actually. It was originally set in the regular weight of Linux Libertine but now looks bold.

Kirk spends the entire series looking at Spock like this and people are still like what do you mean you think they’re in love?

Related: apparently Sun bought an entire proprietary office suite because it was cheaper than paying for MS Office. It became open source and that's how we got OpenOffice then LibreOffice.

Thinking about how cool the Sun Microsystems logo is today

using some spinach artichoke dip my mom gave me the other day for the top 3 here. I prefer the savory latkes tbh, every time I get applesauce we never use it lol

Here’s a code example using the Catppuccin Macchiato colorscheme showing the Rust guessing game included in the Rust Programming Language book. Also comes in condensed and semi-condensed form with a number of weights and a version supporting ligatures.

Now that I’m out of school for a minute, I’m going to work some more on my code typeface I’m designing using Iosevka as a base. Calling it ”Consolena,” I just have to edit some of the symbols I think but I’ve been refining and using it for the past 6 months or so. Supports Cyrilic and Greek also

The opening quotes to Bringhurst's Elements of Typographic Style got me fucked up

not directed towards anyone specific but maybe we should question the drive to share before/after pics so publicly. I have my criticisms of her work but Serano notes some interesting parallels between sensationalized reality TV about plastic surgery/weight loss and really stark transition timelines

Thinking about buying one of Matthew Butterick's typefaces because I really like them, want to support him for how much use I've gotten from Practical Typography, and want to support him because he's leading basically all of the lawsuits against generative AI in the US right now. mbtype.com
