My guess is this ends with even bigger raises and contracts for the cabinet that have annual increases, but pressure on the Board gets results! Multiple Commissioners noted that the public had contacted them over this
Debate over procedure led Kim to withdraw the management-raises item and move it to a future meeting, citing process issues, not staff performance. The board then voted to extend the meeting and moved on to the FY25–26 first interim report.

This is going to boil down to "We are getting rid of the advisory councils and replacing them with the local Astroturf parents group"
President Kim: There is a conversation happening right now with leadership around how we best structure and leverage all of our advisory counsels and committees in the report backs to the board.

This is a white supremacist rally. Anyone who attends something like this or still supports the leader of this movement should be unwelcome in your home and shunned from civil society. Period. We’re way past the point where this crap should be tolerated from anyone. Cast them out.
Trump: "Ilhan Omar, whatever the hell her name is. With her little turban. I love her. She comes in, does nothing but bitch ... we ought to get her the hell out ... she's here illegally."

The crowd in Pennsylvania then starts chanting "send her back!"

SFUSD's "You guuuuys we are soooooo broke we gotta cut everything" narrative is dying at their own hands and you love to see it

Like, when you're handing 161 people 2.3 million in raises and shoving 110 million in super secret special fund maybe you're not broke, you're just fucking privatizers

The most fantastical part of Atlas Shrugged is how Rand insists the billionaires love doing menial labor in Galt's Gulch and do it better than anyone else ever

Whereas it is questionable in real life if these dudes know how to flush a toilet, let alone run a sewage system
The *polite* techno-optimistic version of slavery is “we’ll invent robots with superhuman AI and they’ll be our servants.”

But the real Tell is that Balaji et al are trying to jumpstart their little Galts Gulches *right now*, sans-robots.

So where’s the labor force supposed to come from? Slavery.

One thing I learned from perusing the SFUSD interim budget is that their "fuck them teachers" position isn't going to get them real far in fact-finding

They have the money. They just don't think schools or school staff should get it.

Everyone who claimed Huling was progressive needs to apologize to the rest of us. Note that she recently signed off on that 13% raise for the district's highest paid staff

I remain curious if Duran has reconsidered his hate for teachers unions, or if he still agrees with Lonsdale in re schoolmarms.

I mean, dude backed Sacto even when the fact-finding characterized the district as dishonest and any labor action as a lockout
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

SFUSD's unrepresented management employees, who got multiple large raises during the last year under Matt Wayne, got an additional $2.3 MILLION in raises this school year. These are the district's highest-paid staff, who already get preferential benefits (including extra retirement funds).

If I were a generationally wealthy person who has never once in my life needed to work for money I would refrain from suggesting public school teachers are greedy and unreasonable when they would like a contract that does not leave them bringing home less money than they do now

Sadly, Joe's geopolitical understanding has not further matured since second grade, when his very mean teacher made him stop playing with his GI Joe dolls in class. He knows she was a pinko because she didn't accept that he was a very special boy for whom rules did not apply

I don't care if you think that AI can do some really nifty things. It's being rammed down our throats by obscenely wealthy men who are also, obviously, both dangerously right-wing and mentally unstable, and no rational society should be allowing that to happen. End of discussion.

Any word from Jeannie Noble on her colleague? Or Monica Gandhi? I get that these folks are allergic to self-reflection but this was always the end game for their let's kill more kids and school staff goals
Vinay Prasad of the FDA claims that he has proof that 10 children died from COVID19 vaccines, so the FDA will now target flu shots, look at whether people should receive multiple vaccines at the same time, and make the vaccine approval process significantly more difficult.
FDA to impose strict new vaccine requirements, claiming child covid shot deaths
Vinay Prasad, the nation’s top vaccine regulator, said his team concluded that coronavirus shots were linked to children’s deaths, necessitating a new approach.

My hot Thanksgiving take is that it's actually pretty easy to pull the whole thing off deliciously if you have two ovens and if you don't, it's a lot of timing and planning and likely to turn out mid anyway
the “thanksgiving food is bad” discourse raises its ugly head every year, but the truth remains that thanksgiving food can be amazing as long as you know how to cook. the problem is we’re throwing a few million sunday drivers directly into a grand prix
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.

I am blocked by John Arnold on every platform because I remind folks he's an ex-Enron trader. In performance reviews of his subordinates he praised them for "using the Enron bat" to beat the markets. He lost Enron an untold amount of money and personally helped sink their last bailout attempt.
groundbreaking.

I'm on my fourth attempt to find a pharmacy to fill my stimulant medication prescription, a task I almoat certainly will give up on entirely if I run out before finding a pharmacy with some in stock because ADHD
November 25, 2025 at 3:57 PM
In re the too many kids have ADHD, teachers are to blame article: yes, it's bad and so is the Common Core. We don't have to defend bad standards developed by people who hate childhood, we just don't.

Yet again terrorized by a fucking Waymo, because pedestrians in the intersection don't stop them from making rights on red. Look, Google has decided a few lives are just the cost of doing business and woe betide the pedestrian who thinks they're safe

- mouthing off before tenure
A guy makes ONE tiny mistake (has a years-long friendship with the world's worst sex trafficker; brags about sexually harassing colleagues; is racist; says women are stupid) and his whole LIFE is blown up (does slightly fewer speaking engagements; keeps teaching at #1 university)??!?!?!?!?!
So Harvard is keeping this guy, but Claudine Gay had to step down over ginned up plagiarism accusations and bad-faith accusations of anti-Semitism.

Got it.

Larry Summers tells @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social
he’s stepping back from all public commitments in light of his messages with Epstein, saying he is “deeply ashamed” and hopes “to rebuild trust and repair relationships.”

He will continue teaching.
